  But that whole argument follows the logical fallacy “whataboutism” to downplay X because Y and Z also do bad things. Just because you perceive something to be in line with a standard baseline of corporate shitiness doesn’t mean it’s not worth criticizing.

  As for individualism, it’s no secret that lemmy is somewhat left leaning which contributes to the general vibe. From my experience there is a lot more nuance and depth to the discussions that happen here when factoring in population size compared to other similar areas of the internet.

  I disagree. Nintendo isn’t just some company that has legal beef and xomparing their shitiness with Blizzard’s is like comparing apples to oranges.

  Nintendo is a litigious bully and patent troll that has a long, long list of hurting the fans that love their games. They don’t just settle for cease and desists, they historically ruin people’s lives (see Gary Bowser). What feels even worse about Nintendo is the complete misaligned of their product/ brand vs. how they treat fans. You can point to similar companies like Disney and I say that yes, I would happily cheer on any misfortune that comes to them with the same fervor as Nintendo.

  This is 100% incorrect. Not in terms of science, but in terms of a qualifier of what a colour is. Just because a colour doesn’t exist on the rainbow spectrum, doesn’t mean it’s not an “actual colour”.

  What you’re referring to is the definition of colour specifically by physics. There are other professional fields and areas of science that use different qualifiers for colour. I work with color everyday and I can with certainty say that purple, pink, rust, teal, and sky blue are all colours.

  Kind of like how different fields have different definitions of entropy or different cultures have different names for snow. It’s all dependent on the framework you use and ignoring every other framework is wrong.

  I don’t want to advocate for shoveling money into any company, but if you could sell your steam games it would screw over indie devs in a big way. Many games made by small studies or one person don’t have as much content as AAA studies and would be far more prone to a small handful of copies being distributed back and forth on the used market instead of each being a sale that goes to the developer.

  Some devs would see a drop in sales as much as 90% and I just don’t think it’s worth it to shoot the gaming industry in the foot like that.

  In the same vein I’m shocked how little reading comprehension people have these days (such as this comment) and how people and how quickly people jump to align any information with their worldview. The post even said “majority” with no indication that the father wasn’t around. For example someone that has two siblings, both sisters would fit that category.

  And women are a wide spectrum of people with different tastes. The most common thing I’ve heard is that they don’t care as long as they’re shorter than their partner. But then of course some are into tall guys, others actually don’t care at all, and some prefer the reverse.

  I would go as far as saying that women care more about shorter men not having a toxic height complex than they care about actual height.

  To me, it wasn’t so much about each DLC making a huge impact or the story being amazing. It was more about already playing the game to death and then gaining access to more content to explore. Kind of like eating a delicious cake, still being hungry, and then finding another slice of that cake that was sitting out all day.

  I would argue that all the fo3 and oblivion DLC were decent. Some obviously better than others, but they weren’t just soulless cash grabs. They had effort go into them, and were fairly new into the DLC space so some trial and error is to be expected. They had a pretty good amount of content for the price relative to the base game, compared to the starfield DLC/ current AAA norms.

  I feel like a similar argument could be made for and of the other main elements.

  Fire - control heat to the point you control the vibration speed of subatomic particles and cause nuclear explosions at will or draw the heat out of something to absolute zero and cause molecular collapse.

  Earth - control of carbon, metal, and magnetism. Pull the iron out your opponent’s blood, decay their carbon body into a graphite shell, or turn your skin to diamond for defense.

  Wind - control of air, lightning, and the 3d spacial atmosphere. Manipulate the space in-between particles and flow of electricity/ elections to basically control everything.

  Honestly water is a pretty shit element. I love to drink it but damn it’s nowhere as cool as literally every other element.
