  I blocked most of the lemmy.world meme communities for misogyny already. Not really sure what it is about memes that attracts bigotry, but it’s pretty consistent. Really niche communities like Linux memes or meme communities on balhaj zone have been a way better experience so far.

  Block them is a good strategy but also try to stick to communities that don’t have that kind of hostile attitude. The culture of each community is different. I try to stay away from reddit-like behavior too.

  I guess I should explain a little more: when people approach me with the intent to sext, or whatever, most of them are terrible and disrespectful about it. People who just message me to be like “I like your art!” (i’m a porno artist) or whatever still comprise most of the messages I get and those people are generally good :)

  I’ve had a few dudes approach me in a similar way. If you’re interacting in porno spaces online, it’s more common than you’d think, butt unfortunately still a lot less common than dudes who don’t treat me like a person.
