Start like a butterfly landing on a fragile flower… End like a bulldog eating oatmeal. Best advice I ever got, after spelling the ABCs
- Comment on A Guardian investigation has revealed that as many as 1 in 8 workers in Britain are employed by companies ultimately controlled by private equity 1 week ago:
Do we treat cattle poorly?
Fuck private equity in general. Fuck them particularly when they’re responsible for any human’s care and comfort. Just surprised to see vegan messaging leaking into daily discourse.

- Comment on UK considers forcing social media firms to prioritise trusted news 2 weeks ago:
Exactly, as I said: people are shit, they’re biased and their judgement is garbage.
We could spin it off to an independent committee, but Tories could just fill the upper ranks with Tories (see BBC).
We could write standards that are unbiased, example: reporting must be factually accurate in detail. But the standards will be selectively applied, see Ofcom/GB News.
As I said, I’m agnostic. Standards should be set and enforced, it’s just a shame it would be a reflection of us.
- Comment on UK considers forcing social media firms to prioritise trusted news 2 weeks ago:
We do produce the news ourselves: the BBC is, in reality, state media. BBC news is, in reality, state news.
I’m kinda agnostic on this one. Keeping the influence of Musk/Murdoch/et al out of our media is a good thing. Keeping incendiary propaganda produced by foreign powers, is also a good thing. Regulating media to a minimum standard and removing media that doesn’t conform is a good thing.
But, it will be managed by people and they’re shit, they’re biased, and their judgement is garbage… Worse it will be managed by Ofcom, and they’re even worse: see GB News.
So on balance: fuck ‘em. Once they prove they’re proficient at managing the media they already do, I might trust them to manage more.

Seems like a reason to change how those larger form run and who runs them then.
No algorithms, no dark patterns. No information systems , controlled by billionaires, with a vested interested in what information is shown to whom.

Ah well, allow me to subvert that suggestion.
Expressly and unequivocally, threesomes are not something I talk about when talking to bi/pan people.

I don’t really know how guy unicorns are targeted? Are they? I’ve only heard of the term unicorn being applied to women. But, I’m adjacent to the space at best.
Has cucking, becoming more fashionable increased couples targeting bulls the same way unicorns are? As in toxically.
I suppose it’s different, a unicorn is expected to attended to both partners equally. Whereas, a bull isn’t really.
This is both of topic, and a Wendy’s. I don’t expect an answer.
- Comment on Growth 3 weeks ago:
I didn’t think the /s was necessary… I thought the “we like your vibe” was cliche unicorn hunter speak. I even used the word ‘unicorn’.
Anyways I fully agree, hence how I framed it
- Comment on Growth 3 weeks ago:
I learned long ago whether someone told me they were pan or bi, it took absolutely zero effort on my part to accept and agree with them.
Sure you’re bi/pan, but are you a unicorn, because my fiancée and I really like you’re vibe.

- Comment on VAT's The Problem campaign hopes to stop the tsunami of restaurant closures we're seeing right now 3 weeks ago:
VAT is a regressive tax. so it’s replacement with a wealth tax should be supported by all… Except the wealthy I guess. But VAT needs replacing, not removing.

Think of the alternative? Person uses a tool, tool does what they want, they go about their day.
What are they shouting from the rooftops? Gemini is running my herb garden, my herbs haven’t died yet! This is true: plant selection, pot selection, substrate, feeding/watering routine and troubleshooting is all managed by AI… Gardening isn’t a skill I care to aquire, I just want the herbs. I’ll often use it as a rubber duck to cover basic trouble shooting of my homelab, sometimes it figures out the problem, often it doesn’t but I’ll figure it out myself, keeping me off the forums.
Sure there is going to be shills screaming that their particular spanner cures cancer, or whatever, but the rest of us just use spanners and think/say nothing of it.
I’m sympathetic to the anti-capitalist arguments levied against AI, but only the anti-cap ones and only because they’re anti-cap. They’re right, capitalism does over exploit an environment causing climate change, droughts etd. They’re right, capitalism is unethical. They’re right capitalism does steal the value workers create. None of these problems are unique to AI (Nestle was stealing water long before AI), none of these problems are necessary for AI.

- Comment on Valve Reaffirms Steam Machine Summer Launch 5 weeks ago:
I’ll wait for the price steam sets and compare it to the performance of minis. I’ll give Valve a boost, because I believe in the quality, and Devs will target that hardware.
But, my Beelink mini, I’m using as a sever, has been going strong.
- Comment on The most useless website in Britain (Parliament Petitions) 5 weeks ago:
I believe, though I was young at the time, that the petition to not go to Iraq was the largest of it’s time. I believe that the peaceful protest against going to Iraq was also the largest of it’s time.
I should probably confirm those beliefs as they’re the foundation of my belief that petitions and peaceful protests are useless against the forces of capital. Capital was going to make big money going to Iraq, Labour are a party of capital, we went to Iraq.

- Comment on What gaming console you owned disappointed you the most and why ? 1 month ago:
Xnone. It sucked so hard I converted to pc/android/emulation gaming. I bought it on and for the Fallout 4 release. They both sucked so bad I haven’t bought a console, or Bethesda game since.
I still want the console experience though. Couch gaming, mostly all set up. I don’t have the inclination to research a build, buy all the individual parts and build the thing.
I was thinking about a Beelink SER8, but the Steam Machine announced. When the steam machine releases I’ll compare it to equal price point minis. Steam gets a valve bonus, plus a bonus to knowing that’s the target Devs will be trying to hit.

So? “Just taking one idea: founding a new organisation takes a lot of work”.
That’s not an impossible idea is it. “We wanted to not have a bigot as a lead but it was work” isn’t going to win any sympathies, nor should it.
There you go, you have at least 1 workable solution the choir could do to not be mildly inconvenienced the next time.

That’s nice.
Anyways good for scope, they have a principle, that bigots should be shunned, and they’re sticking with it.
