    The problem is that the entire economy is fucked. I don't think the answer is to subsidise the restaurant industry.

    VAT is a regressive tax. so it’s replacement with a wealth tax should be supported by all… Except the wealthy I guess. But VAT needs replacing, not removing.

      I think VAT is a pretty good system, with minimums below which you don’t get taxed and an increasing percentage as you make more money.

      I just think it should be way higher at the high end, and we need to increase capital gains tax and inheritance tax.
