Ugh, that sounds atrocious!

Uh, the toilet should absolutely have a sink too. I don’t recall seeing any non-discount setups where this wasn’t the case. For example, my apartment right now has toilet and shower in separate rooms, each with a sink. Euro-based.

You said, when I talked about progressive tax:
That’s different. That’s based purely on the amount. And I’m not just talking about salary, but compensation, including stock options, expense accounts, and other benefit packages that executives get beyond salary.
I don’t understand what’s different then, if we both agree that the taxable base for an individual is their total compensation, not their base salary. I think we might have just talked past one another and essentially agree

Yeah, and all of these have a value that can be calculated. So tax them on the sum of their compensation + the value of the perks they receive.
- Comment on The conservatives are calling basic Progressive policies "Communist". 2 weeks ago:
edit: A possibly better option would be to tax executive compensation in a way that you don’t tax payroll. Though I don’t know enough to suggest the details with that.
Uh, that’s easy. Progressive taxation, above whatever amount the % increases drastically.

- Comment on Police Raid Home of 84-Year-Old Priest Who Joined Just Stop Oil Protest 5 weeks ago:
Why is it reasonable to go from “person participated in illegal protest” (which is NOT some extreme protest for an illegal topic), to “we’re going to raid their residence”? How is that relevant to the act of attending a protest. Fine or jail the person as prescribed by the (inane) law and move on, searching their home is overreach.

I agree entirely. Anecdotally, dating has always been easier for me than building platonic relationships.
I think for dating the ‘rules’ are a lot more clear, so it’s easier to figure out what works and what does not. I can be fairly straightforward when dating, whereas budding friendships from my perspective and experience require a very different approach. - Comment on Disc drive needed 2 months ago:
I’m in Europe. I still remember my dad calling me on the landline after school, telling me to “turn on the TV and have fun”. To this day I don’t understand why he added the “have fun” part…
- Comment on Why? 3 months ago:
In the EU, plenty of national ID systems exist. A world where a unified standard exists for these systems and I can just use the “EU login” standard instead of having to rely on a specific (usually American) vendor to manage my auth would be great.

You generally can’t pursue someone for debt after a bankruptcy declaration, depending on the country. So if you’re 25M in debt, you go bankrupt and they can’t chase you for any more. You lose all your current assets, but at least you can rebuild a life. Still, rough path to choose.

In regards to the Pi, I worked for a bank until recently that absolutely would not have discovered it. I was dealing with IAM, not network security, but the guys who were were drowning and the structures were not in place to automatically flag this, so I’m pretty sure it’d just live on… I think outside of big, solid corporate and very tech-heavy smaller firms, this kind of approach would rarely be discovered.

Your country’s definition of “of age” and my country’s definition of it is likely to differ. Easier to just implement a birthdate field than try to cover all the global legislations for these things. Especially when there are multiple conditions for “of age” in a single country. Old enough to vote? Old enough to drink? Those are often not the same.

From afar, you get the impression that suits are in charge and if there isn’t already some “proof of popularity” of some sort, it won’t get greenlit
