- Comment on What would happen if you maxxed out your credit cards and line of credit then moved to some village in the phillipines? 1 week ago:
No, I’m not sure how it happened. I found some default judgements against me searching threw court records; but it wasn’t on my credit at that point. I did expect to be hit by a surprise garnishment or seized tax return. But they never came.
I’m guessing I fell through the cracks during some data migration. I doubt you could pull that off today.
- Comment on What would happen if you maxxed out your credit cards and line of credit then moved to some village in the phillipines? 1 week ago:
I kinda did that in the early 00’s. Left the US and told creditors to kick rocks. They basically just wrote it all off. I came back 10ish years later and it was like it never happened. I went to get a loan for a motorcycle when I got back and they told me that since I didn’t have any credit history (wtf?) that it would be a slightly higher interest rate. Now some 15 years after that, I’m a model citizen, credit wise. I’ll save the next time for retirement.
- Comment on Why don't people wear underwear under the padded bike shorts? 1 week ago:
Yes, underwear will help keep you from getting poop on your bike shorts. No, underwear will not keep ass sweat and smells out of your bike shorts for more than a couple minutes. So it depends on use case. As long as you are dingle berry free, an extra layer of fabric isn’t going to help much for smells.

Ignoring possible medical conditions; that seems like a fairly easy problem to solve.
- Comment on What is the name for a "mechanical wire" I saw in a video? One end of the wire can be plugged into different gears for different gearing ratios. Like a flexible drill extension. More info below 2 weeks ago:
It’s just a specialized version of wire rope. Similar to what they use in flexible ratchet extensions.
- Comment on What are these brownish speckles on my polyester shirt? How to get it off? 2 weeks ago:
I work in a hot and humid shop. The best way I’ve found to get the smell out of my clothes is washing them in 55c water, 1/4-1/2 cup cleaning vinegar (depending on the size of load), and whatever the minimum mark on the detergent is. I’ll let them soak about 15min, let half the agitate cycle run, soak another 15min, then let the washer run as normal.
Any clothes that don’t survive are just shit out of luck.

Just the building with no equipment? In most areas of the US, yes. Building with equipment? Doubtful unless it’s already clapped out.
Running a laundry mat is all fun and games until a bunch of oilfield dudes come through and trash 5k worth of washers.

Mine expects me to filter literal shit out. More months than not we get boil orders for “high fecal coloform bacteria”. And the notices come weeks after the testing; so that always makes you feel good.

- Comment on Is the Glock 17V any good? 2 months ago:
Like the other reply brought up, it is a well built design that has been around long enough to work most of the bugs out. But the 2 main things that make it dependable is it’s a striker fired design. So instead of having an external hammer like most traditional designs, it’s all internal, so there’s less chance of it snagging on something or discharging from being hit (not really a problem on anything modern). And secondly, there’s no “safety”. There are interlocks that help prevent it from firing accidentally, but there is no lever or button that makes the pistol inoperable.
So that being said, if your use case is a pistol you can grab and fire with a minimal amount of fuss, it’s very dependable for that.
- Comment on Is the Glock 17V any good? 2 months ago:
It’s the Toyota Corolla of pistols. Not that fancy. Not specialized. But darn dependable.

Unpopular opinion: Navigation proficiency should be part of any driving test. Because lacking this leads to unpredictable behavior that is dangerous for everybody.

If there’s enough traffic that you need to signal your u-turn, then don’t! Circle the block or go down to the next exit to turn around. Don’t make your poor planning every one else’s problem.
U-turns are almost always poor traffic etiquette.
