- Comment on How to stay sane in a hostile environment that you can't get out of? 2 hours ago:
Find ways to be anywhere but that environment as much as possible. Volunteer for something, join a club or sports team, or just hang out at the library. Being out of that environment will help you clear your mind. Use that time to start making plans to create your own safe place where you can exist independently. It might take time to get there, depending on the resources available to you, but small steps over time add up.

They tried to do this at my workplace, and the union filed a grievance that work was being taken from the landscapers. The union won, so no sheep for us.

I signed up for a rapid response team training, and I’ve started 3D printing very loud whistles to carry with me and give out

Lol, McKinsey was hot garbage before this, adding AI isn’t going to help matters

Why would that be?

Nope.
- Comment on Does each country have a book/library of the laws of the land that a commoner can consult to check if they're about to do something illegal? 5 weeks ago:
Oh yeah, definitely! Even in legal states, if you’re on federal property (like National Forests), possession is still a crime. Gotta be careful with stuff like that
I meant that they aren’t arguing over it as in the DOJ isn’t suing states over having legalized it. Although if I recall correctly, the Obama admin DEA did conduct raids on medicinal dispensaries in states where it was legal
It gets weird and messy fast
- Comment on Does each country have a book/library of the laws of the land that a commoner can consult to check if they're about to do something illegal? 5 weeks ago:
Yep. But when two laws are in conflict, the higher law wins. So state laws supersede local laws, and federal laws beat state laws. Of course, there is also weirdness where the higher body might just choose not to argue with the lower body over conflicting laws, like with cannabis legalization.

In probably sixth grade, four of my friends held me to the ground, one on each arm and leg, while a fifth brought the girl I liked over and told her I had something I wanted to ask her.
- Comment on Is gold investing a scam? 1 month ago:
Almost always yes, it is a scam. Theoretically, it’s a hedge against inflation, but in practice, it’s just grifters selling it to paranoid right wingers
- Comment on If the US was partitioned, what new states would you want to appear? 1 month ago:
I think it would be neat to have states conglomerate around shared bioregions. Like a new country made up of the Great Lakes states, for example. Maybe add some Canadian provinces too? Like if you made the Great Lakes Charter into a country

- Comment on too high for genetics, sorry 2 months ago:
Indica and sativa are pretty much meaningless now, aren’t they? Like, strains have been crossbred so many times that now “indica” vs “sativa” refer to the effects experienced more so than any real genetic distinction?

- Comment on Do Americans expect the NK protest to achieve anything? 2 months ago:
Movements take time to build momentum. The first protest isn’t going to immediately solve everything. But this is how change starts to happen. People start getting more comfortable going to protests, maybe they bring a friend next time. People make connections to other organizations and activists at protests that can help them do more after the protest is over.
And it’s a sign that, despite the amount of power as he’s already seized, and as much as he might not like it, he can’t stop millions of people peacefully protesting against him.
And Trump makes fun of a lot of things. I don’t give his word any credit on any other topic, why would this be any different?
- Comment on What are some good uses the new ballroom can have after the Trump regime is over? 2 months ago:
I agree he has no intentions of leaving office, but neither of his sons have the charisma to carry on the cult of personality. Whenever and however he dies, there is going to be a massive power struggle that ensures, and I don’t know if there’s anyone that can pull off being the sole inheritor of the MAGA movement
