Yea in canto smoking is directly translated as eat smoke, so bite is kinda on par

In cantonese, to smoke is sik yin, which directly translates to eat smoke. So it probably translated weirdly.
- Comment on How hopeless is getting a job with a CS degree? 3 days ago:
Yea
For clarification though I mean dev work as part of database orgs within the big cloud companies like amazon, google, microsoft.
Basically since a lot of companies rely on cloud providers, the big cloud companies always has headcount for those orgs. In fact most cloud service orgs have headcount if you can prove your expertise. (It is biased towards experienced devs though). Database is the one I can think of that schools actually put in the curriculum.
Database admin role yea the line between dev and that is a bit more muddled.

IMO traditional office work wise, accounting is a decent job in terms of money and employment rates. Depends on if you like numbers though
For more engineering focus aerospace is super popular right now.
If you still want to get into CS, you’ll likely need to get into a niche. Cybersecurity and database are more employed than general software. There’s less people applying in these specialist roles

I forgot to specify but I meant it in the context of the thread. Corporate adoption of memes is never it.

Y’all just haters, 67 is just another example of one generation finding and creating their own internet humor, then having every other generation bash on them for it.
Sure it’s a bit cringey, but let the kids have their fun. Internet humor doesn’t have to be so gatekeepy. We had things like 21 from vine and 2+2 is 4. If you look further than number based memes, then there’s been a bunch of nonsensical memes like 🅱️

Not possible. They won’t be able to get any funding if it isn’t closed down, because the people who make the decisions are greedy fucks
The only recourse we have is to legalize game preservation, but unfortunately stop killing games got killed by the courts

Looks like this, there’s a bunch but this is the one I have. Short enough to be useful without being annoying imo
You could probably clip it to your belt, maybe a different one with a larger clip would work

If you are prone to dropping your phone I suggest a strap. It sticks out of the port area and you can just tighten it against your wrist

If the fly is small enough (like gnat size) the venus fly trap might not even recognize it. That’s usually when sticky traps are better (like sundew)
- Comment on How can I earn 100$ (before tax) in 24 hours? 2 months ago:
In 24 hours is probably not realistic
Unless you can/want to do odd jobs, door to door sales pitch (like mowing the lawn), most jobs will have a brief delay (paperwork).
Your easiest bet is credit card (no interest needed if you pay it off) or buy now pay later services (very predatory if you dont pay back in time)
You could also ask a friend/relative but that will put a lot of burden on your relationship with them even if they are willing.

You might have scalp psoriasis. I always thought I just had bad dandruff and tried shampoo and leave in treatments and they didn’t really work. I got it checked and it’s actually just psoriasis (plus regular dandruff too, but the dandruff was exponentially worse because of my psoriasis). You could maybe get a dermatologist to prescribe a topical steroid. It helped for my case (you might still need a dandruff shampoo to go along with it)

Graduating and marriage at 21 is crazy
Normal graduation is around 21 to 23, assuming you went immediately from high school to college (at least in the states)
So that means they basically got married during college, which sounds crazy to me, and somehow can afford a house at less than a year’s worth of a normal job schedule, assuming they started right when they graduated.

Not true. Look at how they handled their anti-gambling lawsuit. They essentially did away with cases and keys, and now you can “open a terminal”. You aren’t gambling according to steam anymore, since you can decline the offer, but because this decline accept mechanic is baked into a dynamic pricing, you are now required to pay steam an average of 1700 usd for a pair of digital gloves, if you even get the offer.
They got rid of “gambling” for something much worse

I’ve been running into this a lot more often lately. And the worst part about this is that my tinnitus that normally I can ignore starts screeching louder, so it keeps me up even more
It’s just a perpetual negative feedback loop

I wish I had the space and money to buy some of the bionicle sets I never got to have, like the bohrok, and the piraka
Unfortunately bionicle sets are ungodly expensive and I do not have space to hold them all lol

- Comment on New York sues Valve for enabling "illegal gambling" with loot boxes 5 months ago:
I remember back in the old days, 3p gambling sites used to have 0 verification. You could deposit skins, each with their own attached real life value, to gamble for other skins. That way those sites could make double the money by fixing the prices skin had, and by gambling mechanics, without even needing a credit card

So are you just gonna ignore all the other ways I’ve listed to tell a scammer?
Never said it was a one and dusted kinda thing if you had a clown award, just that it should immediately raise red flags if you have a relatively worth inventory and actively trading. MY experience is that all the randoms trying to add me that had the clown award displayed were in fact scammers.
This is in the context of trading once again, not steam forums or even general steam. Steam trading is functionally a different experience from general steam. No sane trader uses the forums to trade. Its all 3p sites. People adding you when you actively trade items are either people looking to trade or scammers. If you’re not trading in the mid to high tier range, none of what I’ve said applies to you. The clown award doesn’t mean anything then, because you’re not going to get 5+ daily friend requests
On a side note you should probably not use the forums, it’s been unmoderated for about 15 years.

I’ve had a mildly expensive inventory in the past while trading so I’ve seen a lot of scammers. The clown award was the fastest way to tell if someone was suspicious. Obviously you don’t just base it on that, other telltale signs are no mutuals, private inventory, faked hours on cs, turned off commenting on profile, account level, 3p trust sites, etc.
I’ve yet to see a single profile that was legit that had the clown award. People usually don’t give out awards, at least the profile ones. The average person buys profile decor.
This was back in 2024 ish though, I don’t trade anymore so I block non mutuals adding me

Does the clown award still exist on profiles? I used to get added by randoms everytime and they always had the clown award because that’s the easiest way for people to mark someone as a scammer
