- Comment on Behold, "the whole story of Steam's economy in one picture": the top 1% of games earn 84.5% of estimated revenue, and most games barely make anything 7 hours ago:
Maybe I’ve been lucky but I didn’t see AI garbage games in Steam yet.
However, ultra low quality copycats or “XYZ Simulator” with barebones scenarios and basic assets have been flooding Steam for years.
The adult category is even worse, very badly made games, some clearly being taken from a tutorial to learn the game engine, sparkled with some few hentai images in the background and sold by a very lo price

Image of a young anime girl, Recette from the game Recettear
On one side I become a young girl with a large debt to pay or I’ll be homeless if I don’t pay each week.
On the other side I can pay the mortgage in just one month reselling stuff, sometimes at 200% of the base price.

- Comment on Do non-English speakers learn to code in English, or in their native language? 2 weeks ago:
As other stated it is when two words in different languages are similar phonetically/graphically.
They are called false friends because they seem familiar and you expect to mean the same as with other words that are pronounced similarly in two languages and mean the same. False friends not just mean different things but they sometimes can change the phrase in a bad way.
Note: The following examples are with Spanish from Spain, they might be different in other Spanish speaking countries.
Alice and Bob discussed about having children
Alicia y Bob discutieron sobre tener niñosIn English Alice and Bob had a conversation, in Spanish they had an argument.
Bob is a sensible guy
Bob es un tipo sensibleBob is a person who acts with prudence and thinks carefully in English, in Spanish he is a guy where feelings affect him easily.
I had an English teacher who told the same anecdote about false friends and her sister. She was in UK and the batteries for the remote died, so she went to a convenience store and asked if they had them.
The thing is that in Spanish we only use battery (batería) for the ones that are not meant to be replaced regularly, like the car battery, the laptop battery, etc. The replaceable ones (even the rechargeable that take the same shape), are called pilas. So in the anecdote, the sister told the woman at the store very confidently “Do you have piles?” (haemorrhoids, for the ones who doesn’t know).
I don’t know how real the anecdote was, but it fulfilled its purpose to make us aware of these situations ñ.
- Comment on Do non-English speakers learn to code in English, or in their native language? 2 weeks ago:
I wrote variable names and comments in Spanish when I started as my English level back then was very low.
Once my English improved and started to use English documentation and tutorials I just switched to write in English.
In my previous job I worked at software consultancy, I had coworkers who wrote code in Spanish but it wasn’t the norm.
Currently I work for an international company, the team is Spanish but we have to write everything in English as it can be shared with teams in other countries and audited by international organisations.
When AI tools were allowed, a lot of people use them in Spanish, it generates code with comments in Spanish. I had to reject a lot of PRs from the same guys over an over because everything must be in English.

This, I switched my keyboards to US layout, and since I learned a bit touch typing , having the laptop with ISO es_ES is not of a big deal having the symbols not matching the input layout.
For Mac it is a bit shittier, I don’t get used to the way to introduce the Ñ with its US int.
On Linux, I didn’t managed to set the US int, only US so I don’t have either Ñ nor the possibility to add accents. It might be easy but I didn’t look for it either.
- Comment on British public more likely to prefer Count Binface wins Clacton by-election than Nigel Farage 5 weeks ago:
AFAIK this election was triggered by Farage because he’s being investigated for some issues with donations and the outcome would be a sanction and trigger the same election, this way he can present himself like the people chose him and it wouldn’t have the sanction against him in the public opinion.
The thing is that if he is elected now, it doesn’t mean that the investigation is stopped, it would continue and find as he did things wrong and trigger the investigation election.
Not presenting candidates agains him from the major parties don’t give legitimacy to his shenanigans and don’t waste time and resources on a process that will be done again a few months down the road.
- Comment on If Steam were to shut down tomorrow how much money would you have lost in total on games / DLC ?? 1 month ago:
$2908.44
That is what steam reports as total external funds added.
That includes hardware purchases (OG Steam Controller, Steam Link, and Steam Deck with the new price), and it doesn’t count the games bought on Humble Bundle.

Software dev in Spain.
On paper it is 9:00 to 17:00, but we have flexibility to enter and leave.
In practice we do 9 hours Monday-Thursday and 6 on Friday.
8 hours + 30 min for lunch + 30 min to leave early on Friday.
I do 8:00 to 17:00 and 8:00 to 14:00.
This is not in all companies, my previous employer was like that, but I have friends on other companies for the same sector that do 9:00 to 18:00 every day, with one hour mandated for lunch.
- Comment on How do I type an apostrophe and use print screen on a European Spanish keyboard? 2 months ago:
That’s a weird layout, it doesn’t seem a proper Spanish (Spain) layout.
The apostrophe is the button right to the 0, but on the image it seems that is shift+?
The symbols on 1 are correct, but on 2 and 3 seems swapped, like for @ and # is shift+2/3 but in Spain it is AltGr+2/3

I don’t know if all do, but the few French people I had pizza with, all of them used knife and fork.
In a nice Italian restaurant in Berlin, all the people I saw used knife and fork, I did too not to fit but those pizzas had a crazy thin base and a lot of sauce and things on top, trying to pick a slice with the hand would end very badly, so maybe in other places the people would have used the hand.
- Comment on I get junk mail from T-Mobile & Verizon offering services that when I call them they say my address is not available for service. Both offer those services to my neighbors. How do I deal with this ? 8 months ago:
Why an HOA would deny access to the ISP?
I’m not from the states and the HOA stories I’ve read are crazy, but all were about aesthetics and how supposedly hurts neighbourhood value.
Fiber/cable doesn’t go buried hidden from sight? A place that doesn’t have modern internet connectivity doesn’t have its value negatively impacted?

I suppose it depends on the app, I don’t know the one in the image but the ones I use does color the path with the heart rate.
When hiking, the redder spots are the harder parts and the whole line matches the graph with heartrate over time.
