  Health care should be one of the top 3 places to test. But having worked in healthcare for 20+ years a doctor could come in for the drug test, do a rail in front of the tester, make the hold the cup while they piss all over the place and walk out smiling, and admin would think nothing less of it

  Don’t forget Healthcare and insurance. I only know insurance because I have an uncle that has said he’d start micro dosing just to help him sleep but that could result in loss of his license

  Construction and health care. All required prescreening drug tests, and all my jobs in healthcare had us subject to randoms.

  They still do it in healthcare. I can’t imagine the absolute fiasco that would happen if a doc does a knee replacement on the left knee when they were supposed to do it on the right and turns out he pops positive.

  I also worked in construction for a short time and had a machine operator damage an existing building. He went straight to be tested and I don’t even remember if I saw him onsite again

  For context, I’m reading this on the can.

  I want a word for taking an immensely satisfying dump. The kind where you can just sit down and in a short period of time with minimal effort just drop one large single uninterrupted turd, no splash, and don’t feel the need to squeeze out anything else.

  Then this word can be casually applied to other tasks. Like pulling a trash bag out of the garbage can by the drawstrings in one simple motion without having to shimmy it out and it doesn’t even slightly move the trash can or liner. Or when you’re doing laundry, have a balled up sock and whipping it one in the air it becomes completely unbunched up in the right direction.

  And 5 years from now he’s waking up in a cold sweat every night reliving the horrors of war. The only solace he can find is the occasional free coffee at McDonalds, a 10% veterans discount at Home Depot and maybe being one of those HomeTown Heroes at a local sporting event. This is all he has since the VA has been completely gutted.

  When I was in junior high I asked someone what the difference was between a republican and a democrat. They said republicans create jobs for the homeless, while democrats just want to give them money. It didn’t make much sense until about 10 years later.

  He’s spent his entire life in the military one way or another so most of his life was super structured. Then once he’s gone he just Hobo’s his way around the US. It’s common for his character to be quiet since “Reacher says nothing” is frequent in the books.

  It kinda goes back to the old saying. A wise man speaks because he has something to say. A fool, because he has to say something.

  He grew up in a military family with an older brother so there were likely nasic fitness regimes available. Plus he spent his entire adult life in the Army. It’s also been said his genetics are geared towards high metabolism and muscle density. I’ve known plenty of people who barely work out, don’t exactly rat super healthy but they tend to look like a gym rat.

  Reacher does walk a lot. And not just casually, he will walk for miles as a time across town and avoid busses/taxi unless he’s traveling across states. Plus he tends to get into a lot of sticky situations he needs to fight and exert his way out of.

  Even so, I have to say that the books concentrate more on him just being really tall without being thin. And trained both mentally and physically, but never just muscled.

  I don’t recall which one, but he’s shot in the chest by a small caliber revolver and his dense pectorals actually stopped the bullet.
