I work at a nfp hospital and had to hold off on some house reno. Anytime anyone I even suspect is leaning not-left I always say *well that project has been put on hold. With all the Medicare/Medicaid cuts and that being the bulk of our reimbursement…no raises."
Some have a semblance of critical thinking and realize that those cuts actually hurt people while others gaze blankly

It turned into a heated argument with a manager who, in the middle of project she complains is “taking too long” (despite constant scope creep, moving targets of adding stuff and changing expectations)…she walks up to my desk with her home modem/router she got from ISP. She kept saying it’s “wireless” but didn’t understand that 1. You still needed to plug the coax into the wall and 2. YOU STILL NEEDED TO PLUG THE POWER CORD INTO THE FUCKING WALL

Yep. I tried getting into paintball back in 2000, bought a gun of of a friend but never had the opportunity to even shoot it. Kept it through HS, college, and the first 5+ years of work before a friend said he was trying to get back into it. I told myself I wouldn’t buy any new gear until we had a few good games. We did a couple 1 v 1 and 2 v 2 and i finally decided to bite the bullet. New mask (custom paint job), new gun (azodin blitz), mechanical hopper, some other accessories, etc etc.
Played once, he got bored with it again, started dating a new girl and disappeared.

Several months ago my manager wanted us to track our time throughout the day. Part of it was to assist with load balancing where if person A spends 80% of their time doing reports and doesn’t have time for other stuff while person B only does 25% reports then some can be shifted. But the bigger portion was because Person C pretty much did fuck-all all day and played on their phone, but that’s beside the point.
After about 7 months the manager started to phase it out and said we don’t need to. Overall I didn’t mind because it helped me track the day and keep me a little more engaged. But the biggest reason I do it is to better track and manage my true time. If I start the day a little early and don’t take a full 30 minute lunch, you bet your ass I’m slipping out a little early!

Unless said manager is either a friend of the higher up or banged the boss (which is only how they got the job to begin with)

It takes a tiny bit of tuning of if you use NoScript with Firefox you can block individual URLs within the sites as well. A list of 12 urls, find the one for the site you’re on and the video being hosted and it’ll block everything else trying to call including trackers, ads, “click here to continue”.
