Thankfully we only have to see her once every 6 months or so. Plus she’s been absolutely great since the incident. I think she was probably a little embarrassed afterwards.

That did cross my mind. However she’s a phenomenal surgeon and that is all I needed her to be. Her skills dramatically changed the quality of my kid’s life for the better so it was well worth it. Also every interaction with her since then over the years has been perfect. Maybe she found out her husband was cheating on her that morning? Maybe her grandmother passed away and she just got the news before the appointment? Whatever it was, what I said to her was just the straw that broke the camel’s back.

A few years ago I was heading to the major city children hospital near us for a post op follow up for my kid. GPS said it would take 1.5hrs to get there so I left 2hrs early to make sure we get parking and we’re able to get to the appointment early. Well traffic ended up being so bad it took 4hrs to get to the hospital. I called ahead of time and asked if it was ok that we still go to the appointment because we were running way later than expected. The doc office said it was fine and to just get there as soon as we could. So we got to to hospital and up to the office and they saw us right away. Well the doc gets in the room and she starts yelling at me about being late and how disrespectful it is and how us being late impacts everyone’s day. I apologized a few times as she continued to yell. Finally I said calmly “ok lady we get it. I apologized and I called ahead and your office folks said it was fine.”. Well she lost it on me after that. She said “DO NOT SCREAM AT ME OR THREATEN ME!”, then she told the nurse to call security to escort me out. I very calmly said “I did not yell. I did not threaten anyone. I simply said we understood and I don’t need to be lectured on it. It’s sounds like we all have had a stressful morning so let’s just continue with the appointment and call it a day.” And that is exactly what we did. Any followup we have had since then has been very pleasant. Just caught her on a bad day I guess.

When kids say “boomer” they mean an adult. Doesn’t matter what age you are. If you’re an adult you’re a boomer. End of story.
When you try to explain to them what a boomer actually is they just laugh at you and call you a boomer again because honestly that shit is a pretty a boomer thing to do.

I would absolutely categorize Control as a metroidvania game. It has all the characteristics of one. I know some debate it because it’s so combat focused but aside from that it checks all the Metroidvania boxes.

Check out the band Zeal & Ardor. Specifically the song “Devil is Fine”. It has grown a bit as a music project but it started as satanic gospel mixed with metal.

I’ve worked in e-commerce since 2007 and I’ve seen every type of website/app selling all sorts of products and services. The issue the card companies have with content like this is that they have an incredibly high rate of charge backs. It’s the same with gambling sites as well. Usually a spouse one will discover the purchase, spouse two will claim they have no idea where the purchases came from, spouse two will say the card/account must have been compromised, then they call the card company to reverse the charges. I don’t agree with the process but it is the main reason I’ve seen merchant accounts rejected when my clients were applying for one.

My brother-in-law did this at my house the other day! My jaw almost hit the floor watching him try to kick that shit under the fridge. He did it in front of his son too. They didn’t seee behind them, so I bent over and picked up the cubes and told them we don’t do that in this house. I told my wife and she told her sister, they were both surprised. I had no idea people did this. Just pick them up and toss them in the sink.

I bought a refrigerator from Best Buy about 7 years ago and when it arrived it came with cockroaches. For days after the fridge was delivered I’d find dead roaches on the floor or see them scamper away when I turned on the light. So I bought a big bag of boric acid powder and lightly sprinkled that stuff around the kitchen floor leaving a nice thin dusty coat on the tile. After three days I vacuumed up the powder and I never saw another roach again.

I keep telling all my liberal friends this. It’s a waste of time and energy to call out the Right’s hypocrisy and hang on to it like it’s some sort of trump card (no pun intended). The right does not care that they are hypocritical, in fact they actually revel in it, they find it hilarious that the left gets so worked up over it.
