- Comment on Supermarkets destroy food if it doesn't sell. We can always feed the world. We just don't. 2 days ago:
The main problem is this :
A supermarket could donate food that will expire shortly to anyone or any charity. But if that near to expiration date food makes someone sick for whatever reason, that person could sue the supermarket. Insurance companies would charge a lot to cover that risk so stores opt to throw it out rather than do the morally correct thing and donate it because it costs them money reducing profit for no return to the stockholders.
If the US would pass a law shielding companies from lawsuits related to donated food, then this could become the norm

I consider that just morally outrageous. To kill something so we can survive is nature’s law of predator and prey… But to kill and not have it consummed seems like the cruelest evil.
- Comment on Why do companies require you to submit a resume but also put the same data into their forms? 2 days ago:
Wrong people.
Do not copy paste resume details. Tailor each submission to match the job. There’s no other waycto beat the AI right now other than to regurgitate job details back at them.

The home depot near me has only self checkout … I guess it was such a problem that they now have a team of workers standing next to each station to ‘assist’ with checkout.

Where I grew up, streets were the only place to play.
Yell car and move to the side. Then resume your street football game.

Companies love contractors. No benefits to pay and doesn’t count as a full time hire.

All good advice here.
Find a good agent to represent you.
Get pre approved by your potential mortgage company.
Have a decent down payment in cash ready.
Never ever ever ever sign a deal with a per diem penalty. No matter what.
Make sure you understand what your taxes and insurance will be. Also check for FEMA flood maps. My home had a paved patio and 6 inches of it touched a XX flood zone, they wanted 15k a year for mandatory flood insurance. I took a sledge hammer to the concrete and poof, no more flood insurance requirement.
What the current resident pays in taxes is NOT what you will pay…research it.
Don’t buy a house within 1 block of a school …school traffic is terrible.
Get a full inspection…not just what’s required.
Good luck

And remember, a photon of light does not experience time. Time only applies to mass. When a photon is emitted traveling at the speed of light, it is eventually absorbed by something, eglight from the sun hitting your eye. The photon of ligjt, from the photon POV is emitted and absorbed in the same instance.

Its already at a point where I can’t take a long exposure without a dozen spacex satellites and other junk zooming through my frame. Light pollution is already at a tipping point where no stars are visible in or around large cities.
Support your local amateur astronomer club. Support the dark skies association.

For YouTube, use a VPN that terminates in Albania. Like magic, no more forced sign ins, or ads, or age checks.

What i hate is that they spent millions on these electronic billboards, but 99% of the time they display either “use seat belts” or “dont drink and drive”.
why didnt they just make regular signs for a fraction of the cost instead?

- Comment on Epic CEO Tim Sweeney says 'employers will see a stream of resumes of once-in-a-lifetime quality' after the company laid off more than 1,000 people 2 months ago:
What i did was eliminate a bunch of stuff that did not relatebto the position first. E.g. ai does not care you volunteer at a food shelter if the job is for carpentry.
Dont include it if the position doesnt require it.
E.g. dont put “proficient in Word” unless the request states “candidate must be proficienr in wors”. Also if they ask for someone proficient in mail merging welcome letters from names in ms access… then put exactly that on the C.V.Dont just list software you know…parrot their requests back at them…thisis what i mean about tailoring the reaume to the position.
I went with skills first, Then a list of companies for work history without explaining what i did there except for 1 position that seemex to want a list of accomplishments at a previous job.
Extras tha might help come last.
Just the facts, leave the talking points for the interview. Thats the time to bring up your food shelter volunteer work.
Match the job requests in the CV to get past the non human filters first.

The worst part of job hunting was tailoring your reaume to match a job posting for each job…just to try and get by the AI filters and get humans to look at it.
Once i learned how to fool most HR filters, i started to get calls from companies.
Its all a fucking game

Facebook has a profile on everyone. Accounts or not. They are just like every other data broker. All they want is access to more data and more data.
All that medical data is the holy grail… Anyone who thinks medical data will remain private is naive. All it takes is very deep pockets and lawmakers who want contributions to change the laws.

This. I miss being in a band. Did this in high school and college. We played local clubs and bars. It was fun.
But as an adult, who can find 3other people willing to play at all, or even commit to a 1 hour get together to practice… Performing is probably never going to happen again.
