    I couldn’t even afford windstorm insurance in Florida this year. Lucky I have no mortgage so I can opt not to have it.

    They want 10k a year for windstorm, with a 20k detuctable and the roof coverage is prorated over the 15 year arbitrary lifetime of a roof…lose your roof and your roof is 15 years old, that’s 2k only… Too bad you didn’t meet the deductible in damage so you’ll get 0. Plus they won’t Insure you unless you have a roof under 15 years old. If I’m going to spend 30k on a roof, I’ll wait for a storm to blow it away, then put the new one on.
