“We’re headed full speed into a century of humiliation.”

- Comment on 你好! 1 week ago:
I already explained my reasoning, and it didn’t include just knowing what it is.
- Comment on 你好! 1 week ago:
I assure you it’s not taught as basic history here. Certain events from the period are discussed, but not with that phrasing.
- Comment on 你好! 1 week ago:
It isn’t something many Americans would be familiar with nor on the front of their mind to use as an expression. That individual is likely Chinese or has an unusual interest in 19th-century Chinese history for an American. There is no need to be a smug asshole about basic facts.
- Comment on 你好! 1 week ago:
An American using the phrase “century of humiliation?” Unlikely…
- Comment on cool kids club 1 week ago:
I just saw one two nights ago. They’re just what many people would call “ugly,” look dirty, and they get into trash and whatnot. I’m my experience, they’re less aggressive than racoons, so I don’t mind them. Really, people should properly secure their trash anyhow.
- Comment on Naval Academy Takes Steps to End Diversity Policies in Books and Admissions 2 weeks ago:
I worked at one of the academies for years, there wasn’t much diversity to begin with. Each of these wealthy white assholes costs the taxpayers 500k a head and there’s about 1000 in each class. They mostly come from enough money their parents could pay for private college without any hardship, but they would rather the working poor for the bill and they get to be part of a stupid fucking boys club for life.

I understand what you meant now, apologies. I thought it was a dig.
The person I was responding to said “most Americans,” and I was responding to that statement. It is difficult for most Americans to immigrate anywhere, unless they have skills/knowledge that the country they are attempting to move to is having trouble filling or independent wealth. Perhaps soon, we’ll be able to claim refugee status or political asylum, but I certainly hope it doesn’t get there.

Why are the dumbest people always the most smug?
- Comment on Welp. 4 weeks ago:
It isn’t an active choice. Moving to Europe is not an option for most Americans.

Wow, that is pretty wild. I didn’t know London was still rocking that 19th-century roving gangs of dangerous children vibe.

The message is correcting a misconception utilizing a concept most people would understand better. It isn’t a call to action, just informational.

If there’s profit to be had, yes. They don’t care about their public image in the least.
- Comment on Australian and New Zealand militaries are monitoring 3 Chinese warships off Australia 1 month ago:
I said vessels, which means ships. This is common for military vessels to go navigate international waters where it may be contentious to do so all in the name of freedom of navigation. Three ships, one being a supply vessel, do not pose a significant threat to Australia. A carrier group might be cause for concern, but this really isn’t.
- Comment on Nope 1 month ago:
Canada should not only do that but do it in such a way that it would be time-consuming and costly to reconnect.
- Comment on Australian and New Zealand militaries are monitoring 3 Chinese warships off Australia 1 month ago:
Vessels navigating international waters is news? I don’t imagine they are pursuing any economic activities with those vessels. Freedom of navigation is supposed to be some all-important principle, so I’m not sure what the story is here.

The end of the civil war. Essentially, the consequences for treason and the reconstruction era were a complete failure, allowing the rot to spread and fester.
- Comment on Unions Sue to Block Musk’s Access to Treasury Payment Data 2 months ago:
Unfortunately, you’re correct. The time for courts was 1865. They didn’t do what they needed to do then, so here we are today. This was always the trajectory.
