“Prompt engineering.” 🤣
“AI” really brings out the goofies, and their even goofier targets lap it up.

While the story can be a bit bland or even cringy, the movies have a lot of visual appeal. I’m not surprised they do well.

This seems like bad voice to text. I figured out everything except “bone smack the teeth.” Anybody know what that’s supposed to be?
- Comment on Netflix's CEO says movie theaters are old news. Director Rian Johnson says his next movie belongs there anyway. 5 days ago:
Why are you equating a poor movie going experience with being antisocial and introverted? This resort to ad hominem is unnecessary just because we are having a discussion. I get plenty of regular social interaction, it just doesn’t involve theaters. They’re a pretty minimal interaction space, anyway, if you’re behaving as you should in that space. People can get out and enjoy each other’s company for cheaper and with a better overall experience in myriad ways. While I agree that there need to be more third spaces, the theater won’t be it, if for the expense alone. I remember a time when it was a good way to enjoy some A/C for a couple of hours for relatively cheap. It’ll cost $20+ just for the ticket to sit in a dirty chair.

Very true! I have a great setup at home and I am sitting in the best position for it. Also, it isn’t deafening when action picks up. Louder is not necessarily better.
- Comment on Netflix's CEO says movie theaters are old news. Director Rian Johnson says his next movie belongs there anyway. 5 days ago:
Theaters tend to be dirty, and the people tend to contribute to making the experience worse with their lack of common decency and consideration for others. Add the cost to attend and the value just isn’t there for many people. These are the major factors to declining sales. Additionally, my home setup is quite nice and not as expensive as you might imagine. My home experience is great. There’s no one to interrupt, throw food, or generally make a nuisance. Also, I can pause at my leisure if I need to take a moment for something else.
- Comment on Netflix's CEO says movie theaters are old news. Director Rian Johnson says his next movie belongs there anyway. 5 days ago:
I suppose. I don’t think he’s inherently wrong here, though. Ticket sales have been declining steadily for some time, and 2020 sped it up. Theaters have grown increasingly expensive to attend, while the experience has gotten progressively worse.

“Old news” is an idiom meaning outdated or no longer relevant. It isn’t quite that literal.
- Comment on Kansas wants to use AI to spot guns in schools. One major company won’t say how often the system fails 6 days ago:
This feels like when fire alarms go off at work. Literally, no one gives a shit. There are a few people who basically go “fuck yeah, I’m gonna go stand outside until someone collects me,” but most just continue with whatever it was they were doing. This is not the attitude you want emergency services having towards reports of active shooters.

- Comment on SLAYYY 1 week ago:
The increase in ear and nose hair is the only part of aging I despise, appearance wise. I don’t mind grays or wrinkles, but having hair sprouting out of my nose and ears is not only unsightly, but they can be physically bothersome as well. Fortunately, it is easily managed, but it is another thing added to my list of shit to do.

I assure you it’s not taught as basic history here. Certain events from the period are discussed, but not with that phrasing.
- Comment on 你好! 3 weeks ago:
It isn’t something many Americans would be familiar with nor on the front of their mind to use as an expression. That individual is likely Chinese or has an unusual interest in 19th-century Chinese history for an American. There is no need to be a smug asshole about basic facts.
- Comment on 你好! 4 weeks ago:
An American using the phrase “century of humiliation?” Unlikely…
- Comment on cool kids club 4 weeks ago:
I just saw one two nights ago. They’re just what many people would call “ugly,” look dirty, and they get into trash and whatnot. I’m my experience, they’re less aggressive than racoons, so I don’t mind them. Really, people should properly secure their trash anyhow.
- Comment on Naval Academy Takes Steps to End Diversity Policies in Books and Admissions 5 weeks ago:
I worked at one of the academies for years, there wasn’t much diversity to begin with. Each of these wealthy white assholes costs the taxpayers 500k a head and there’s about 1000 in each class. They mostly come from enough money their parents could pay for private college without any hardship, but they would rather the working poor for the bill and they get to be part of a stupid fucking boys club for life.
- Comment on Welp. 1 month ago:
I understand what you meant now, apologies. I thought it was a dig.
The person I was responding to said “most Americans,” and I was responding to that statement. It is difficult for most Americans to immigrate anywhere, unless they have skills/knowledge that the country they are attempting to move to is having trouble filling or independent wealth. Perhaps soon, we’ll be able to claim refugee status or political asylum, but I certainly hope it doesn’t get there.
