Well for most of that history people lived in walkable settlements and cities. Pompeii had fast food stalls. And more recently (relatively) food ordering direct through a restaurant was the norm. Pizza delivery dates back to the 19th century, which is checks notes more than 100 years ago. So yeah, access to food has changed a lot and it is nor unreasonable to expect your delivery driver not to toss your food into the street.

Differing from some of the other opinions, but I’ve been using Huel for several years now and like it! Simple and easy, and thin enough to chug.

Look, don’t worry about it, everything will be fine. They are curing lots of people everyday and Johnny says it’s not a big deal anymore.

I guess you could argue that they negotiated a shit contract. They should have had the right to sell a perpetual license to the media. When the contract runs out, they just can’t sell it anymore, but they don’t have to pull it from those that had purchased it.

Agreed. It doesn’t taste food, takes a ton of water, and splits super bad in hot drinks. Just all around bad.

I don’t know. I’m not sure if anyone has those stats specifically. I know that head injuries are the leading cause of cyclist deaths and un-helmeted riders are three times more likely to die from head injuries

This is data from Denmark, so a bike-centric country with good infrastructure. It still reports a significant decrease in traumatic brain injury for helmet use in a given crash.
- Comment on Induced Demand 4 months ago:
I like the idea, but if it doesn’t work than it’s not great. Plus sharing helmets can be I’ll advised for health reasons.
I know there was a company in Europe that was working on a portable airbag style helmet. Hopefully something like that would make bike share more viable.
Even with dedicated lanes, bike accidents without helmets are more dangerous.
- Comment on Induced Demand 4 months ago:
The problem with bike share is the helmet issue. I love my bike but I’m not going to carry a helmet everywhere I go on the off chance I might bike.

I think saying sex is the same as gamete production is somewhat reductionist and not the usual definition either. And at a minimum that would create a 3rd sex, a body that did not produce gametes.
- Comment on OnLy tWo eLemEnTs 8 months ago:
Sex in humans really isn’t that binary. XXX and XXY exist for instance.

Without apparent external influence. Relative pressure is something humans have a hard time judging. As well as it just exists everyone in that zone vice something easy to perceive, like a fire under a pot boiling water.

Sure but that doesn’t change the lack of competition. For my address, I have two non wireless providers, and one of them is copper only and capped at 50 down. So not a lot of choice if an ISP is screwing you.

Ah yes, I will just go to another ISP. Wait, there’s only one.

The other use for timezones besides local midnight is the offset between geographical areas. UTC+2 or UTC+4. if I start work at 6 UTC and my buddy at 10 UTC, I know for scheduling purposes we are 4 hours shifted from each other. Whether you have to do math or not depends, but it is still a “timezone” by a different name. The only way to completely get rid of timezones is to ignore local time altogether.
