Exceptionalism and nationalism has more to do with the propaganda people are being fed, and less with the actual reality they are living. It will take more than a hard downturn in quality-of-life I think.

The language wasn’t the point. The point is that if this data is being retrieved by these young clowns, we can’t trust any of it. There is no good excuse for Elon to have given them this much responsibility.

My favourite Pizza place here in Copenhagen also went back to having their own delivery car and bike, to get rid of Wolt (biggest delivery service here). Delivery price and time has improved dramatically.
Why did we sacrifice all these services go stupid apps to begin with?

Enjoy the adventure! Such great games. The Legendary Edition and the SteamDeck is a match made in heaven, except for the piece-of-shit that is the EA launcher/app.

I really hope other publishers will be inspired. Just yesterday I had an hour to kill on a train ride, and wanted to play some Mass Effect on my SteamDeck. It took 25 minutes just to get started, because EA updated their required launcher, which couldn’t be bypassed because it required Internet connection, and then forced the update (which of course bygge out, and had to be redone thrice). A 25 minute boot time for something that doesn’t affect the game the slightest is a terrible user experience.

I accidentally watched The Substance, and now I want 2.5 hours back.

“every re-run ever” - except when streaming platforms decide to delete stuff forever arbitrarily, because they give zero shits about preservation.

Hades filled a Diablo shaped hole in my heart, after being disappointed by D4. Highly recommend the Hades games.

Or a simple quick choice during the cutscenes, the first time that kind of scene comes up. Brutal Legend does this in such a great way.

I don’t think this about trying to close it, but rather put a big fat sticker on everything that comes out of the box, so consumers can actually make informed decisions.
- Comment on Hero 9 months ago:
Same. It physically hurts to see talentless suck-ups play the bullshit game and climb the hiarchy, whereas you get punished and kept down for pointing out the bullshit. My best decision ever was to escape the hell that is the field of software development, and instead get into teaching. Now my reward for a job well done is seeing my students succeed and I love it so much.
- Comment on Major ChatGPT-4o update allows audio-video talks with an “emotional” AI chatbot 10 months ago:
The way the presenters had to talk over the voice to interrupt it was awkward as hell. It also seemed to pick up on background noise from the audience often and interrupt itself. That makes it unusable in loud public settings (which imo is great, I hope it will never be socially acceptable to chat loudly with your AI in public).
- Comment on Hades 2 early access launch on Steam reaches over 100k concurrent players 24 hours after launch 10 months ago:
It’s really, really good! Tougher than the first game, but that’s a welcome change. After about ~10 hours of gameplay, I already feel like it’s the best sequel I’ve played.

Teach. I already teach and I would continue to do so even if I had enough money to retire. I just love seeing young people discover the joy of programming and 3D modeling.

I think that’s the entire point of this exercise. Thinking about what making the world better would actually mean and entail.

I had the idea to start counting it as a “Thirst-trap BINGO” each time every single thumbnail for shorts recommendations had a half naked woman with her mouth slightly open. Turns out that it happened more than half the time, and the game quickly got boring.
I have never watched a single short on YouTube, so apparently it’s just the default recommendations that are horny af.
