I grew up with parents who loved to cook and grow their own vegetables - I was always cooking with them. When I moved into an engineering dormitory, I was shocked to learn that absolutely no ~20 y/o around me knew how to cook. Seeing a picture of this plate brought me back - everybody made crap like this.
Also, once I saw a dude trying to boil a whole cheese (his parents were mega-wealthy, and he had never cooked once in his life).

I don’t eat cheese myself, so I can’t say specifically which one. I came into the common kitchen one day, and he was just boiling a big chunky slice (like from a cheese wheel). His reason was that he thought it would ‘soften it up’.
He was a great engineer but an incredibly odd fellow. His entire room was also just hip-height stacks of old tech, laptops, books and boardgames, with only a shallow walking path between his bed, desk and bathroom.

I’ve never even imagined boiling cheese before.

Yeah I don’t trust anyone that doesn’t eat cheese (i’m guessing any dairy?). You should have that chECKED OUT.

I am Danish and have a hatred for how the meat and dairy industry has ruined my country and its farmland. So more of a political choice, that was handed down to me by my hippie grandparents.

I’m lactose intolerant and even I eat cheese.

“Boil a whole cheese”!!?? To what end? Like a craft single, a 1 lb block of sharp Tillamook cheddar, a 20 kg wheel of parm?

To what end?
Triggering the end times.

My parents were proto-hippies (went to college in the '50s) who listened to The Kingston Trio and baked their own bread and such. We almost never ate out or ate packaged food. One year I went to summer camp and for breakfast they made real stuff like eggs and pancakes and bacon but also had those little boxes of sugary cereals on the tables. I pigged out on the cereal while everybody else ate the real food, since their parents never ever made shit like that for them.
