Excrete.
Discharge.
Slay.
Void
I think this is the one.
“I feel a void inside me. Brb.”
Thank you for your contributions.
Voiding
Excreting
Evacuating
Eliminating
And yes, word is the word.
“use the restroom”
What if you’re in the jungle?
I work outdoors, often in remote locations. Phrases I have used:
Make friends with a tree. Speak with a tree/have a conversation with a tree. Commune with the bushes. Wander over this way alone.
My field partner often speaks of watering or fertilizing the forest, which I find distasteful because it gives a sense of which act they’re performing and I really don’t need to know that about my boss.
Names are words, so "words" refer to both collectively. "Elimination [of waste]" or "voiding" for the second one.
A word for word and names? Nomenclature, terminology, lexicon…
A word for peeing and pooping collectively? Most words have other uses, but also pertain to both bathroom activities, like Excretion, evacuation, expulsion, waste, elimination… There are better words that specifically refer to each act individually, but not collectively. Just for peeing there’s micturate, and just for pooping there’s defecate.
Urinate > micturate tbh… micturate sounds like you’re doing something ungodly to a mouse.
Online, we call it a “bio break” or just “bio” because it can also include getting more water or snacks
“Entering meatspace for a lil bit” 🤓
Sorry I didn’t mean to make fun, bio break is an excellent term
Elimination
Names are words. And make up one for the pooping and peeing thing. Something like peeooping, only more proactive.
Peelooping
This sounds like a different thing I’m imagining now. If anyone’s seen Upload…
One word? You should make up on, and see if it sticks.
Suggestions:
If anyone is interested, you can call food and drink collectively “vinctuals”. That’s another one I was looking for.
"Victuals" is the source of the term "vittles", if you're feeling particularly folksy.
Brilliant! Thanks
“Refreshments” sounds more natural.
I guess it does, but it also seems to imply a small snack or small drink rather than being able to refer to meals and drinks of any size…
“Titles”?
If you think “relieving yourself” is disgusting, use a polite white lie.
Just say you’re going to the bathroom to snort coke.
How would language have ever come about then?
“1s and 2s”? … no, not good enough.
