Wow, I never realised The Easybeats were Australian. My People by the Presents being on the list makes my little EDM heart so happy.

Goddamnit, my girlfriend has started playing Vampire Survivors again, which means I’ve started playing Vampire Survivors again. We mostly just played it coop together so I never went deeper than basic builds and the first forest map. Now I’m trying to unlock stuff and figuring out what combos together. Sure, it’s all up on a wiki somewhere but what’s the point of playing if you’re just going to read about it?
Catfish@aussie.zone 4 days ago
I seriously annoyed my hands playing this to excess on my phone. No idea how people figure out some of the unlocks so bloody random!

The point of games is to play them, not just finish them! People who minmax and look up the answers are just ruining it for themselves.

I went ham on that game unlocking everything, and now I love “survivor-likes” there’s a few on the Play store I enjoy.
It’s just an addicting gameplay loop
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 days ago
I realised you just have to unlock everything even if you have preferred characters so you can further improve your build. It’s just fun running the numbers and becoming unstoppable.
I picked one up called Vital Shell where you control a gundam and it looks like a Dreamcast/PS1 game. I also figure they’ll be good games for my kids to start with because they just have to talk around and not get hit.

The Shonky Awards are out.

What would you like to nominate in The DT Shonky Awards?
My vote goes to: Today’s Melbourne weather because it’s bin night.
SituationCake@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Printers in general. All of them.
useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 4 days ago
I had the displeasure of trying these recently. Now, I have put some questionable things in my mouth, but these are by far the worst. One bite and straight in the bin.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 days ago
The only way these are gonna taste half decent is if you deep fry them in 10 day old vegetable oil and sit them in a bain marie for 3 hours. I don’t care if the instructions say oven, microwave, airfryer, arm pit. Their instructions will deliver disappointment everytime.

May I suggest Real Estate companies for causing more suffering in australia than just about anyone else
except that one guy in rural north west victoria, he’s honest and tells it like it is
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 days ago
You may.
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 days ago
I’d be tempted to nominate Choice itself for a shonky award. The concept of independent reviews is great, but I’ve seen some that are pretty dodgy.
The worst I recall seeing was a review of portable induction plates. They claimed that none of them were any good because the settings work differently than a standard electric hotplate, so users might have to learn to use them.

Canstar voting means nothing to me also.

It seems water or some other liquid is precipitating from the sky. Are others experiencing this?
Catfish@aussie.zone 4 days ago
Water is so boring. Why can’t we have something colourful like borscht?
tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 days ago
It rains diamonds on some planets. That would be something different
