  That bullshit trope always bothers me. The one pushing back only has to direct the knife to one side or the other not push straight back. The worst case I’ve seen of this is in season 2 of The Punisher. The girl fight in the therapist’s apartment has one of them up against the wall with a knife being pushed at her face as she gets cut below her eye. It was especially bad because not only could she have directed the knife to the side, but she could have also just bent her neck to move her head out of the way.

    Pretty sure the activity is “See if we could kill each other with a knife [if we had a knife]”, not “Maybe actually kill each other with a knife”.

  If you’re the attacker here, what you want to do is make a forceful cut parallel to the guy’s body and try to cut their hands and wrists, then go for another plunge. Ideally in a different place, but even if it’s the same place, now they’re trying to defend against you with injured hand(s).
