- Comment on ‘Absolute nightmare’: Brexit bellwether constituencies revisited 10 years on 1 day ago:
Who could have possibly predicted this would happen?
- Comment on VAT on private school fees not caused exodus to state sector, says Bridget Phillipson 4 days ago:
I don’t think anyone seriously believed it would.

“About 150 jobs have already been lost in Bolton as the retailer reports 145% rise in profits and hands £20m to shareholders”
Right. I’m not buying anything from those fuckers again.

What a waste of money.

I’ve just switched to Tidal and it seems pretty good.
- Comment on Pubs Shut and Streets Close as Police 'Screen Attendees' for Oxford Union Tommy Robinson Debate 6 days ago:
Free speech doesn’t mean you have to provide a platform for racists. This does nothing but legitimise him and his racism. The Oxford Union should be ashamed of themselves.
- Comment on Amnesty International exposed years of anti-trans reporting at four UK newspapers. They ignored it. 6 days ago:
“When human rights are under attack the role of the press should be to challenge those in power – not cheer them on.”
The British press is mostly just courtiers to the rich and powerful these days.
- Comment on Thames Water nationalisation moves closer as government ‘objects to rescue deal’ 1 week ago:
Presumably nationalise it, spend £££££ fixing it, sell it off again, new owners run it into the ground. Repeat.

- Comment on The social media policy ratchet 1 week ago:
Yes, it would be far better to take the actions presented here - removing lock-in, not allowing malignant algorithms, and splitting up monolithic social media companies. Those are all sensible suggestions that would have a real effect, but with Keir and his party fighting for his political life, it’s absolutely unthinkable that they would do anything other than sledgehammer pointless and ineffective - but headline-grabbing, tough guy regulations through. Nuance and reasoning can go fuck itself.

I feel safer already, and I’m 59. Thanks Keir!

What’s wrong with Belgium? Bruges is lovely.
- Comment on Palestine Action Activists Will Be Sentenced As Terrorists, Court Confirms 1 week ago:
Tried as demonstrators, sentenced as terrorists. Grounds for appeal all the way up to the ECHR, surely?
- Comment on Daily Mail Retracts False Claim That Green Party Councillor Praised Hamas 1 week ago:
Daily Mail prints lies as headlines, and retractions on page 23.
- Comment on Dozens of children put at risk after gender care failures at GP clinic, inquiry finds 1 week ago:
“Dr Charlotte Canniff, joint chief medical officer for Surrey and Sussex ICB, said that most young patients registered at the clinic had now been referred to specialist NHS gender services for treatment.”
So despite the scare mongering and general “going behind the parents’ backs” theme of the article, most of them are continuing treatment.
- Comment on 'The Two Big Lies About Trans People at the Heart of the EHRC Codes of Practice' 1 week ago:
The position the UK now is in is driven by two big basic lies. The first is that the Equality Act was actually an act which excluded trans people from single-sex services and spaces aligned to their lived in gender but that the courts, Parliament or the EHRC, had somehow not noticed this until last year. The second lie is that trans people are always identifiable, and when they aren’t, they’re intentionally deceptive.

- Comment on ‘Free of the shackles’: Michael Grade’s GB News defence raises concerns over relaxing of Ofcom rules 2 weeks ago:
GB News is basically an exercise in seeing what you can get away with. And the answer seems to be pretty much anything. Ofcom is a toothless joke.

The example they used had the turning circle of an oil tanker and would have trouble with a lot of corners. Any normal vehicle would be fine.

Yeah, I guess it’s completely beyond the bounds of possibility to spend a day counting and then divide one number by another. Impossible.
- Comment on UK police under pressure after dying student was handcuffed as he lay dying from stab wounds after his killer falsely alleged a racist attack 3 weeks ago:
He kept saying “I’ve been stabbed”, increasingly weakly. It’s fucking horrible to watch and the police were appalling. They just wanted to arrest him and make him someone else’s problem. They didn’t consider his welfare at any point.
- Comment on UK police under pressure after dying student was handcuffed as he lay dying from stab wounds after his killer falsely alleged a racist attack 3 weeks ago:
A long time. In the clip I saw, he had stopped responding, and they were starting to get the feeling that it might possibly be the case that it was not unlikely that there was an inkling of a chance that he might be injured. In case there are any racists taking this, thinking that they cared more about the guy who said he had been abused, they clearly couldn’t give a fuck about him either.
- Comment on Why we need racism 3 weeks ago:

- Comment on Lancashire town with 36 Turkish barbers and 14 vape shops sparks concern 3 weeks ago:
You just have to get the work experience kid to count the number of people going in during the day. Divide their income by that number x number of days it’s open in a year and you can instantly tell if it’s laundering money.
