lmfao what the fuck
i would never have expected a MUSIC PLAYER to have this kind of warning
tech companies you have officially outdone even my wildest predictions
harm related keywords in song titles (such as Attribute Mutilation by TornadicPolarity) are not uncommon
what a pointless feature
link is to learn.appleservices.apple/here-to-help-en-gb
(i dont use apple music much, just checking whether a song is available to play on family homepod)
It’s there to stop the serial murderer who searches “Lofi tunes to mutilate / kill to”
Curses! Foiled by technology again!
“look we care! now you can’t sue if something happens!”
That’s what I’m picking up between the lines anyway…
ik this is a shitpost but…
i made a spotify playlist that was just music about suicide and then spotify tossed me one of those suicidal prevention posts with the links
I’m curious, does it do the same thing for Wave of Mutilation?
“If you or someone you know is driving their car into the ocean, help is available.”
Weirdly enough no, but it did do it for Mutilator Defeated At Last even after auto completing that album title for me
So it has a way of identifying well known songs but not all songs.
Have they never heard of Cannibal Corpse? Titles such as ‘eaten back to life’, ‘fucked with a knife’ and ‘meathook sodomy’ sure trigger the same warning ?
Same with YouTube and the band Suicidal Tendencies
I actually think this is a decent feature. Listening to the right song at the wrong time could push someone over the edge.
I got the same for searching for Suicidal Tendencies recently

Typical corpo behavior. Pretend to care in the front support, fascism in the back.

Speaking of pretending to care: just saw an episode of a TV show with the obligatory “are you thinking of self harming” thing with a phone number and link and noticed something seemingly innocuous but actually truly heinous:
“Call and data rates may apply”
That’s a potential paywalling of self harm and suicide hotlines! Talk about profiting off of misery!

If it’s a regular phone number, of course your regular call rate would apply though? Only special numbers get exemptions usually
