And I am betting this same thing happens every storm.

It’s a Jeep thing.

I’m so glad there was large text in the middle of the screen so I wouldn’t have to see the subject of the video.

That wasn’t even close. They’re out of their depth at half that depth.

So what exactly stalls out when you try this with a car? Battery shorts out? Air intake flooded?
CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de 7 hours ago
In the worst case - Water doesn’t compress. Engine is a pump. Water gets sucked into the intake, into the engine, and the connecting rods bend. Catastrophic failure. The air intake usually is either high (level with the hood) or has a relief at that height to avoid this, but you obviously can’t fix this level of stupid.
It might be electrical, because it’s quite deep for those cars, but I’m not sure that’s the case.

the engine can hydrolock

Was this yesterday? Didn’t notice any flooding there today.

How stupid does someone have to be to see a car stuck in deep water and think “yeah, I’ll try that too”
ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 5 hours ago
The first car I give the benefit of the doubt. The second saw what happened. But they’re a BMW driver.
Gerblat@lemmy.world 6 hours ago
Not just that, they see an SUV/Crossover stuck, then try to cross with their sedan 😅
