Im fine with reposts, even reposts without credit. But reposting a meme from one lemmy community to another lemmy community and not crediting/cross-posting is just shitty and pointless.

No, there is an explanation in their account profile. They repost things from Lemmy.ml to other instances because they are against Lemmy.ml.
I like how the screenshots omit the instance, giving the false impression that it’s a repost to the same community instead of the reality that it’s a crosspost to the corresponding community on a different instance.
I’m just waiting for the 33 non-banned cm0002 users to start reposting their own content.
This is just the person doing the digital individual version of Claude/ChatGPT/Gemini/Anthropic, etc.
I’ve seen the user in question accused of actually being one of them. Didn’t bother checking in later to see how that went, tho.

There is a point though: If cm0002 uses the cross-posting feature, it’ll show the post’s original instance. That might drive traffic to the original instance, which cm0002 does not want. Because cm0002 is on a one-man mission to starve certain instances to death.
I’m sure you got approval to use those photos from the source, right?

I understand your frustration. It feels like stealing in a way, and a crosspost is a clean and neat way to share a post in a different community.
That being said, I don’t see it as a huge issue. Even setting aside that this particular user has a reason for doing that (which you might agree with or not), Lemmy is not that big that a few reposts feel like a problem, and having more activity is nice.
Fuck that guy for a multitude of reasons.
