      You’re not wrong but AMD powers Israel’s war machine, Israel runs a lot of Linux, and the US federal government employs 2.3 million civilians who are more complicit than a MS tech keeping GitHub running.

      The entire world is comfortable with genocide.

    I’ve been unemployed for over a year and a half… if I got a job offer from them I am not sure I could turn it down.

      I was unemployed for a long time and things like eating and paying rent is nice. You can be all high and mighty and say you would never work for/with X, Y and Z, but if the only other option is to keep starving… You change your priorities quickly.

    Same thing over here. Funniest part (in a sad kind of way) was when it asked me if I had any questions at the end; it literally couldn’t answer any of my questions, “Good question, you can ask HR by stating it like this…”

  Interviews right now in software:

  • Apply to job
  • 1.5 months later receive email to take an AI-“proctored” code interview where you have to show your ID, share screen, cam, mic like some Orwellian njghtmare
  • Maybe get a soft-interview with employees where they are just asking you about local weather while seemingly personable, but actually just trying to find out if you live where you say you live
  • Possible technical interview with humans where it’s “pair programming” but actually just a human-proctored coding puzzle irrelevant to the job description and the “interviewer” is looking at another monitor surfing reddit
  • Contemplate if homelessness isn’t that bad versus all this bullshit
  • Maybe retail? Construction? Farming?
  • Work at CostCo?

  All to get a job to be a condom between Claude and source control as that other recent lemmy post shared.
