- Comment on In a hearing on data centers, a resident of Tyrone Township, Michigan, asked a simple question: Have you signed a non-disclosure agreement? Officials refused to answer 1 day ago:
That’s tragic. I’m appealing to people who believe far-right conspiracies (without realising the source is far-right) to be careful of what they consume, but they’re voting.

I’m not in/from Britain myself but it does seem to make him look foolish.
Like in a comedy when a volunteer is sought from a line of people and everyone but one inattentive person takes a step back.

It’s impressive to see the other parties unified in their strategy, which also seems to be a smart one. I heard Zack Polanski say (can’t remember when) that the people of Clacton need to reject Farage, so I wondered if they were running a candidate, but that’s not the case either.
- Comment on I wonder why the world is on fire? A mystery 1 week ago:
That’s a good point. I’ve been voting for a party for years that started on 2-3% electoral preference. The general consensus at the time was that it would be nice to see them grow, but they’re a wasted vote. They’re now around 10-11% and even as opposition have impact.
We don’t have FPTP where I am, but I can see from our neighbours the kinds of problems it creates. Still, once you progress beyond FPTP, the kinds of attitude problems we have here still persist. I guess you’ll have a better idea of the next steps once you have proportional representation, because then you have a better idea of the government people really want.

I would also argue that few people have made a very good case connecting peoples concerns to capitalism. So to many it has a Southpark-ish ring to it: capitalism is bad. Don’t do capitalism. It’s an abstract thing, and abstract ipponentjyst make people feel despair and impotence.
The most persuasive people I’ve seen don’t use that word often. They directly link peoples concerns to inequality (unfair taxation and employment laws), climate ( fossil fuel companies) and unregulated abusive businesses such as big tech.
Those are not faceless, abstract entities, so people can organise their (justified) anger better.
Has anybody else heard good approaches for helping people understand ?

My theory is we prefer to treat obedient and servile objects as people, and actual people as unavoidable collateral.

A good traffic management plan acknowledges that when child predators slow down to look, it slows everyone else down too. /s

I couldn’t have said it better. Some people are genuinely not suited to it without other interventions first, but for everyone else, it’s basic mental hygiene.
- Comment on Tommy Robinson detained at Heathrow under counter-terrorism laws 3 weeks ago:
He is funded by US/Israeli billionaire Robert Shillman, so likely already has more money than he’ll ever need. The point of asking for donations is psychological manipulation: when people “buy in”, it’s harder to leave the cult.

My favourite is “The Green Menace”. Another one I saw today referring to the excellent Mehdi Hasan.
I laugh because the tabloids are unhinged, but they’re unhinged because it’s effective among certain cohorts.

Nobody seems to want to grapple with the problem of local white Britons being absolutely out of pocket.
Zack Polanski does, and he’s the o lú one doing it credibly. Check out his Bold Politics podcast if you’re interested.

I couldn’t find it either. It may have been circulated within legal networks rather than as a public petition.
My guess it’s by either defendourjuries.net or the Good Law Project. Both of them have great social media accounts that break down what’s going on, what we need to be paying attention to and how to get involved. I recommend their social accounts where they post videos. They break things down very well there.
