If the suit isn’t cut extremely tight, it’s not that hard to move in a suit. Especially if you’re not wrestling or doing high kicks.

Exactly I had a habit back in the day of walking around in a pretty nice suit and I would easily jump into a hackysack circle, baffling some, but a loose cut suit makes maneuvering easy

It’s not a suit but there is plenty I’ve done in jeans:
- 15km hike with 1000m vert
- 15 minutes kicking a floor to ceiling bag
- a 10 km run
- messing about with capoeira
It’s not that hard, people just have this idea of certain clothes being appropriate. Admittedly, I wouldn’t recommend these, but if there is something I want to do and I only have jeans then 🤷♂️

Everything James Bond has is tailored to him; why wouldn’t his suits be the same? Same with his mundane gadgets having all kinds of secret features? Same with his suit. I just assume it’s a bespoke suit that is cut very well and has secret features like everything else he uses.
Or: he can make video calls on a watch in the 1960s and mobility in a suit is where you draw the line??

Yeah the general concept is… Agents and Detectives aren’t the line of fire people. Detectives are called in AFTER the action is long over, and regular cops would be the ones doing the chasing in the .01% of situations where there’s someone on scene to chase.
Most types of “agents” are pretty boring overall. Interviews, note taking, or if it is excitement they are undercover so, they’d wear what matters for that role.
and of course 99% of combat is, draw a gun, aim for the center of mass.
Physical violence is mostly only done by badly trained beat cops, or failed beat cops that are now ice agents.

Suits for action films are tailored in such a way that they have better range of movement than a typical suit does. If I recall correctly, it mostly involves looser shoulders and crotch with more fabric in the areas that need to stretch.

Intelligence work is done largely in offices. Phone networks, data centers, etc.
In field operatives wear plain clothes and use “behavioral engineering” to get information. They just try and get people to talk more than they should through friendly conversation.
The fighting doesn’t happen. Its reckless, draws attention, and no one is going to tell you anything after you’ve beat them silly.
Homicide detectives also do not get into alterations because the altercation has already happened. When they get enough of a lead on someone they notify dispatch and they send a pair of officers to pick up the suspect.
Real life does not have fisticuffs.
