That was a very disappointing 5 minute brief of what was essentially 'it ‘s gonna get worse, but she be right, don’t be a cunt’
The sentiment is nice but I’d have preferred a plan to get us out of this mess.

I have been saying for the last week or two I expect fuel restrictions to come in after the Easter weekend. Not before, because that would go down like a lead balloon. But this portends my prediction, I reckon.

    Ask first.

Then waggle the finger and say “I asked nicely, but you are not making a smart choice, so daddy has to be mean now”.

It’s definitely sounding like we’re ending up there sooner rather than later. They are likely very hesitant to announce any kind of restrictions because many Australians are still sensitive over COVID and it creates another wedge issue for the Coalition and One Nation. I have zero faith in either of those political groups, particularly with the Liberals now being led by Angus Taylor, to actually do the right thing by the nation and support the government in its efforts managing the crisis.

One of the most depressing things about COVID was learning how selfish most Australians are. Forget everything we like to pretend about community spirit and mateship and all that. People were acting like having a bit of fabric over their mouth was oppression, and taking a month off going to the pub was apparently unbearable.

Wow! Who told him to put on such patronising company PR voice. You’re not trying to sell a fuckin concept to the country mate, your meant to be levelling with the country about the seriousness of the crisis. Speaking to everyone like they’re children won’t help, even of the opposition have been actinglike a bunch of turkeys over this all day.

He is expected to urge Australians to save fuel for areas and industries that “most need it”.

I suppose you have to try but I’m not really sure this does much. Most people will claim their use case is justified, and even if deep down they know it isn’t they’ll still come up with some whataboutism to defend it. Australians do not have the existing cultural mindset required to stop driving everywhere and for everything overnight.

This morning the Graham farmer free way in Perth was as clogged as ever with people who will claim they are justified and there is no alternative.

I witnessed this from the bike path that runs adjacent before anyone comes at me. I was hardly riding quickly and I was moving faster than the climate change deniers.

My office building’s basement car park still full of gigantic child fucker mobiles that middle managers claim they need to drive in to the city to work at their desk.

Yeah good luck with anyone thinking of anyone but them self.

In Queensland, they’re about to pass laws that means that if you were riding an ebike, you’d have to be on the road with them, or failing that, limited to 10km/h. Oh, and you’d need a drivers license

I used to ride along there when I lived in Maylands riding across to Welshpool. Its nice down by the river. I’s never fit enough to do it everyday though. Got to twice a week on the regular until I moved. I miss that ride.

There’s been a noticeable increase in traffic around inner Brisbane since school started this year. I heard from a colleague that it was because a lot of work from home contacts had expired and many people were being forced back into the office.

Surely, encouraging anyone that can work from home to do so would help save some fuel for those that have no choice. And with less traffic those that do have to drive will also be using less fuel.

Reducing the fuel excise temporarily is short-sighted and won’t matter if we run out.

He’ll be announcing his plan to act on his mandate of heaven, seize the imperial capital of Beijing and proclaim himself Emperor of china. I know it like I’ve known nothing before.

Closer than my guess. I thought they were going to announce that anyone caught hoarding fuel will have it poured on them.

Nah, don’t waste it. Anyone caught hoarding fuel should get demerit points.

Sadly it was nothing as exciting as that.
