Might want to be careful with that. Lately a lot of people see emoji in writing where you wouldn’t typically expect it to be a sign of ChatGPT writing.
I knew it was doomed when we started using em dashes as an indicator for chat gpt writing. I actually used them and I had to stop because of it lol. I won’t let them take my emojis too!
I personally don’t believe emojis should exist in professional documents. I’m not a hiring manager, but if I saw an application with emojis, I would think it wasn’t taken seriously, and would probably not even give it a full read.
When there is text with emojis, it makes it hard to read for me. My brain stops to interpret what’s going on and it breaks my flow and concentration on the text.
This is my opinion entirely, and it looks like some others would accept emojis, but just know there are people like me out there, and others that are worse. I don’t think that emojis will elevate your chances of success, but are more likely to hurt them if anything. It depends on your risk tolerance and necessity to get a new job

I think in general emojis aren’t for the workplace, especially on the customer-facing side. Linkedin feels like it should be the same. It’s essentially your résumé, and there’ll be a percentage of people who scoff at emojis and disregard you.
You should see my “very corporate” company’s slack - tons of emojis all the time. That said we don’t put them in anything official.
Nobody reads them except recruitment bots, so it’s probably fine.

I don't find emoji or even emoticons professional, but I'm also in my 40s so take that for whatever it's worth. I imagine younger people would feel less of a taboo around them.
I guess the intention is to take my bio and make it a bit less formal in a harmless way. I’m not necessarily looking for a job right now so I’m not worried about that, but I would like for people who come across my LinkedIn to view me as approachable and someone who genuinely enjoys the job they’re doing, if that makes sense?

You do you. But it may have an impact on people looking at your profile. As people in this thread write. But on the other hand you might also attract the attention of someone who is more on the same wavelength as you. It’s up to you to weigh the pros and cons. Do you want to fit in with the inexpressive, professional corporate tone, or do you want to add a bit of color? You can’t please everyone anyway, but it might serve your interests to conform to the expectations of people you DO want to please.

I wouldn't turn up to most job interviews with rainbow hair, oversize sunglasses and clown shoes. And if I dressed sensibly, I probably wouldn't bring my teddy bear as a mascot if I expected to be taken seriously.
Emojis are in that sort of territory.
Know your audience. And if you don't, or are trying to present to as wide an audience as possible, default to the safety of plain prose.
I will be honest - I don’t take LinkedIn very seriously. I have mine on private, only 8 connections who are all my coworkers, no profile photo, no posts/likes/comments, and I’m just making a bio now. I’ve never used it to get jobs before nor have any HR folks gone through it to hire me 🤷♀️ I mostly just wanted to set it up as like a work portfolio that if anyone happens to come across, they can see what I do and reach out if they feel like it.

Makes me wonder if there are any OF creators on LinkedIn. I think those would be the appropriate emojis to use 👍

All modern browsers have Unicode support nowadays so OK from a technical standpoint
LinkedIn is mostly for establishing that you’re okay with not being a human being and really your life’s ultimate goal is to strive to be just the very best corporate robot.
I would look at how your peers would see it.

Emoji’s 😁 is like garlic 🧄 you can’t just make due with a single clove but instead add several heads of garlic. 🧄🧄🧄
