Speaking truth to power was always a revolutionary act. Seems like we’re going back to the old days.

How is calling for the death of soldiers truth to power?
Kyrgizion@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
I meant Theroux’ interview, not his subject. He’s not responsible for the things his interviewees say.

If I said death to Russians no one would bat an eyelid.
You’re bias showing, it’s also boring and unoriginal.
IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
don’t you hate it in history class, when they talk about how good it was to kill Nazis.
Will somebody think of the poor genociders
bdonvr@thelemmy.club 2 weeks ago
Genociders*
gmtom@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
Another troll for the blocklist. Why are there so many of you guys lately?
Zombie@feddit.uk 2 weeks ago
British Airways outs themselves as pro-genocide and anti freedom of expression.
echodot@feddit.uk 2 weeks ago
Have you ever flown with them. They ousted themselves as shitty already. They look good in comparison to Ryanair but that’s it.

The airline has withdrawn its adverts from the journalist’s podcast after he interviewed Bobby Vylan – whose real name is Pascal Robinson-Foster.
On it, Vylan said he was “not regretful” of leading chants of “death, death to the IDF [Israel Defense Forces]” during a performance at the Glastonbury festival this summer. He said he would “do it again tomorrow”.

Do you think it’s had a major financial impact on him? He’s a internationally known journalist I doubt he needs the money.
A bit of a weird move from British airways anyway, why would they care who he interviews, it’s not like he’s endorsing that person. Also the general public actually support Bob Dylan’s stance , so again, kind of a ill thought out gesture.
British airways PR team aren’t giving it their all it would seem.

Clearly British Airways just wants to establish its image as a pro-genocide corporation which endorses shooting, bombing and starving innocent people.

Bob Dylan’s stance is not the same as Bob Vylan’s, I’d wager.
JamieDub86@piefed.social 2 weeks ago
Did it get a bit close to the bone for them?
Samskara@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
Watch Bob Vylan gleefully smile, when he defends his slogan.
NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 2 weeks ago
I did and he's based as fuck. Your point?
Samskara@sh.itjust.works 2 weeks ago
Just giving the original source as context, so people can make up their own minds.
Denjin@feddit.uk 2 weeks ago
Did you listen to his words?

So you were ok with Nazis, pedophiles, murderers and Zionist settlers, but you have to draw the line at musicians.
floofloof@lemmy.ca 2 weeks ago
But these musicians objected to a genocide, which obviously makes them terrorists.
steeznson@lemmy.world 2 weeks ago
It’s a business: They want to avoid controversy and this musician is controversial.
Sucks, because he is probably right or at least not wrong in his views, but this is the society we’ve all built together.
