Two minutes or two bites, but realistically when you can get to it. You wanna make sure they got everything they ordered, and it’s not burnt or undercooked or anything. The alternative is having to wait to get something fixed if it’s messed up. Source: 7 years a server.

If I were in a dramatic mood, I would look at the guy, my fork still in my mouth, put up one finger while putting my fork away, theatrically and exaggeratedly chew my food before swallowing it, equally exaggeratedly, before answering: “You could hardly have picked a worse time to ask that.”
