What’s your favourite thing about Melbourne?

    • MeanElevator@aussie.zone ⁨4⁩ ⁨months⁩ ago

You can be yourself and people don’t care.

Apart from the occasional loud mouth people can exist they way they want to and they’re treated like everyone.

Complete apathy is the way to be.

It used to be the tramcar restaurant. So many memories.

That’s an incredibly hard question to a answer!

I wonder if it counts as being awake if I’m constantly hitting the snooze button.

My golden nugget pumpkins look ridiculous with their plastic hats on but they are not eaten or dead. The bigger fellow that got planted first even appears to be growing larger. The soil test results came back and everything is within safe limits.

I’m still a bit worried for them though. Pumpkins are heavy feeders that like manure in their soil and plenty of water. But this is dry sandy soil, with greedy tree roots extending in from someone else’s tree. They’re planted in half arsed unfertilised holes scraped out in the midst of the invasive grass because I don’t think I can clear it all. (I dug manure through to improve the soil many years ago before the grass invaded but that would all be gone by now.) They absolutely will have to compete for nutrients and water. I’ve also planted everything kinda late.

The smaller variety is growing in the paper cups and putting out leaves. I could bum a lift for potting mix tomorrow (and maybe manure? adding a second bag of anything takes the delivery from $10 to $25) but not sure if it’s good to go out in that heat.

The least taxed zucchini plant is sending up a few male flowers now but the others are not, and two are suffering from something that looks like powdery mildew. I’ll have to repeat the spray when it’s not too hot.

The tomatoes are doing ok. Wilting regularly but I haven’t noticed the fruit splitting which was my worry with heirlooms. Only one is ripe so far but they seem to be setting an ok amount of fruit. I bet the birds and rats take notice soon.

ok guys , I’ve started watching severance, done the first two eps.

it’s some marxist north korean type mind control shit to give busy work to very highly intelligent true believers… I think.

Changed my bedding, doing laundry. Might hang the sheets and towels out tonight to dry in the blast tomorrow.

I should probably make some jelly too. Need to check the water is well topped up in advance because birds and animals will need it. Maybe pull the smaller pots inside.

I’m still not liking this dishwasher. I’ve ended up using it regularly only so dirty stuff doesn’t build up and attract bugs.

    Bitching

I just have to do a load daily (or run two loads) due to not being able to efficiently stack many of the smaller items, then manually rinse everything under the tap and put it in the rack to drip. If I could stand long enough to just wash things in the sink I would straight up do that. But for now this is the go. One thing I have found to be a problem though is the cat’s silicone bowls have absorbed the strong lemon-lime smell of the detergent which will absolutely turn her off eating. (I don’t find silicone kitchenware very good to be honest. It tends to absorb odours and be difficult to clean any oils fully off. The bowls have also stained yellow from pumpkin.) Luckily they’re fold down travel bowls so I can try to get the smell out with baking soda or vinegar and pack them away. It’s just nice to have spares… Love it when two crap products team up.

We did Mopa in Thomas town today. It’s a nice spot with a lot to do, but my boys were mostly interested in the first section where there were ramps to put toy cars down
