Apparently my neighbours think it’s a good time to operate a leaf blower. Not too sure exactly what their thought process is…
Not feeling the heat yet. Heading into work at around 10 though. Hopefully not a gross sweaty mess when I arrive
It was a bit yucky outside and I was only outside for under an hour at 8am this morning.
It even rained for about 5-10 mins.
I think we got a few drops of rain here 😐
I’ve got some here too! More than a few drops, it’s up to a legitimite (light) shower. This is very good news for my garden.
It’s nice out there early, birds are chirping, it’s not hot and the air smells nice. 🙂
Good night everyone. Many hugs. 😘😘😘
Made it down to Kmart today to buy the last of the ideal things for the new house. Mostly appliances. I bought a high velocity fan until I can sort out something for cooling (also got a pedestal fan in the mail), a microwave, an air purifier, some towels, and some quilt sets (I only have 1 quilt cover at the moment)
I’ll take all the cutlery from here because I had to replace that myself. The last kid nicked or threw out most of it, and they fully expected me to wait a month or two before they got approval to spend 15 bucks on some forks, knives, and spoons. Oh well. Easier to buy it myself
Still need to sort out a knife set. I got one knife last Kmart trip, but couldn’t find the knife block I was after (I don’t want those cheap black plastic knives, but I also don’t want to go to some cooking supply store and buy a set of $500 knives, so the next best option is the slightly higher end metal handle Kmart knives)
I think I’m well and truly sorted now, and ready to go be my own self!
(I’m hoping that I can single handedly convince them to replace the gas central heating with a split system at no cost to me before I move out. Hell, I’m pretty sure there’s even rebates for decommissioning gas heaters)
A vote regarding metal handle knives - personally I find they can get slippery to hold and for this reason I don’t like using them. Especially if you hands get a bit damp from handling produce or handwashing etc. Lots of people like them though, so maybe see if you can hold one before you buy, see how it feels.
Something that seems to have disappeared this year and I’m rather upset about it – Christmas pretzel trays! You know the plastic trays with little sections for pretzel bows, pretzel sticks, those tiny little round savory bikkies, etc etc? I absolutely love having one of them (with some corn relish dip), but haven’t been able to locate one this year!
Anyone else have a seemingly dying favourite snack for this time of year?
Last time I saw those things was at Aldi, but not this year.
I am absolutely in love with Pannetone BUT refuse to pay the mad prices for it.
I try to wait until it’s on sale. A nice slice of that, with a cup of tea is heaven.
Much better when it’s winter, but I’ll take what I can get.
Try an IGA?
Ahhh, good thinking!! I’ll do that!!

A tiny green tomato has popped out… bit early for that I think considering their size. I saw the seedlings were flowering super early (likely from stress and maybe a bit older for seedlings) and pinched the flowers when I got them home to let the plants get established - but I must have missed one.
I didn’t plan well… delay in getting seeds = grabbing more plants. Now I want to plant both the pumpkin varieties and they might actually need bigger pots. Normally I avoid third party sellers but bought a 5 pack of 20 gallon grow bags via Beeg Dubya and hope they arrive soon/safely.
A bit worried about the size of them when filled. Normally I’d just stubbornly heft whatever I had to but I’m noticing myself getting older and having to be more conscious of the risk of injury.
My tooth still hurts despite almost being finished with the antibiotics. I couldn’t get in with the dentist this year without someone to accompany me home so maybe my gp would give me a second course to hold me through Xmas.

I was right, more antibiotics. I got the script filled at the on site pharmacy, that turned out to be a much more expensive option than the discount chemist was.

I take a couple of meds daily, getting both costs me under $20 a month from Chemist warehouse.
Couldn’t be stuffed with them the other day and filled my script at the local chemist. $35 total.
I can’t justify supporting a small business with such a difference.

And unfortunately with the buying power of CW, there’s zero way the small pharmacies can compete. The price they pay their suppliers is way more than the price CW pay for the same product.
It’s lose-lose. Unless you’re CW I guess…

Healthylife is Woolies (boo) but they sometimes have cheaper generics than even CW if you don’t mind waiting for shipping (which is free with at least one prescription item in your order). They have cheaper non-prescription items sometimes too, like electrolyte drink tablets and surgical wash.
melbaboutown@aussie.zone 6 days ago
Oh damn. That’s a big difference. Did you get given the generic at the discount chemist or is that higher price just because?
RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 days ago
It is the exact same product, the only difference is the label the chemist prints out to put on it. Definitely highlights the importance of shopping around, especially if you have regular prescriptions.
