Today’s replacement is the earbuds that were stolen. The first ones were actually an impulse buy when I was at my conference in Adelaide. I like to wear hats sometimes, but I also like toe ear headphones all the time. So I bought the earbuds - a pair of Jabra something or rathers. They have nosie cancelling (although it’s not super good) and sound alright.

I also got the new M2 SSD and 3.5" SATA drives that I ordered. Took the opportunity to redo the thermal paste and give it a good dusting. M2 screws are such a pain to put back in. I tried for 10 minutes to get the screw back in, but I couldn’t get it in. I eventually caved and put a piece of double sided tape on the screw to keep the screw and screwdriver together. Worked well. But with how difficult that was, I kind of wish I’d just gone for the largest M2 I could afford, rather than getting a small M2 and a larger HDD. Also decided to reinstall windows, just to get a clean slate

I have no idea what HRV status is but in my old bed it was unbalanced. Every night since the new bed and mattress it’s been balanced so I assume that is a good thing.

I definitely feel like I sleep better.

Heart Rate Variability. I’m not convinced of it’s value as a health metric but I haven’t read the research.

A low HRV is usually an indication of illness, back when I was tracking it I could tell when I was on certain medications by looking at the graph. Not 100% sure how scientifically robust it is but interesting to follow along for sure.

Hard to tell from photo - what is the capacity of the jug? Cos you might might might be looking at an absinthe set without the strainer. Which would be a rarity as absinthe was illegal for a long time.

Cream and sugar set? With the saucer to catch drips under the cream pourer?

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking too. The “lid” fits perfectly on the “sugar bowl” but there’s a lip on the top which must have a purpose. If it’s used under the jug then there’s no lid for the sugar. Maybe I keep digging in the cupboard. Maybe there’s more I’m unaware of but doubt it.

I have a trolley that is one of those wire rack shelving dealies. I am trying to put a new top on. The new top will screw into four holes on the top of the unit. I cannot get these fucking cunts to line up, no matter how many times I template. I am enraged.

Put top upside down on floor. Put trolley upside down on top. Drill/screw into place from underneath. If screws are to go in from the top, then put them in before positioning the trolley. Blu tack is your friend here. I can never get templates right either.

1m length tubes, no can drill from beliw.

I ended up just 3d printing inserts with a through hole for a 10mm drillbit guide, gonna jam them in the poles, double sided tape on top, flip/stick on a piece of ply, drill and voila. Template.

Man, that Rikodeine really throws a brick at your brain and knocks you out but not in a good way… I’ve only taken medication with codeine one other time in my life (panadeine forte after a wisdom tooth extraction) - and I hated how woozy and half-conscious it made me. Same with this. Where’s the euphoria?? Ugh. It did help me stop coughing all night but I’ve been straight up unable to get out of bed for hours. I guess that’s what I needed, but it feels like crap.

It’s so perfect outside, I want to go for a walk and soak up the sun on a nice patch of grass, but I feel too weak to right now. Yet staying in bed all day will feel gross too. I don’t feel like watching anything either. …maybe I’ll sit at the entrance to my balcony for a bit and just do nothing. What a crazy idea!

That all sounds par for the course with opiates. Doing nothing in the sun is probably perfect.

So I received a response from the bus company about the other night when the bus left without me. Apparently the bus driver was on break which is why he was parked past the bus stop. Apparently he checked his mirrors before he left but didn’t see me.

The whole situation was fucking confusing. There were 2 buses parked after the bus stop: 1 was completely turned off with nobody inside, the other had a driver marked inside but was marked as not in service. A bus turned around the corner and I thought that was mine, but it was marked special and didn’t stop. Then after it passed, the not in service bus changed its desto to my route and left without me. Something like this:

Also, the complaint was apparently filed under “failure to collect”, and the email they sent me includes a link to an extranet page with guidance on how to respond to such complaints, but unfortunately PTVs IT department knows how to secure internal documents. This makes me sad, as someone who likes to read internal documents though. Interestingly they don’t use a username and password, they just block unauthorised IP addresses from accessing the page at all through CloudFlare. beta.ptv.vic.gov.au does the same, which I only know because for some reason, some of their public facing links link to the beta page, which obviously doesn’t work
