There are alternatives tho, no reason to support them

Mind you you also support apartheid by buying an overpriced product made in occupied West Bank Territories.

Idk about other countries but there’s like several generic supermarket alternatives to sodastream in all bigger shops here, and idk who the fuck would buy the overpriced sodastream brand co2 when most markets sell a generic brand bottle for half the price.
So at least here it doesn’t have a majority of the market. Perhaps the largest share, but definitely not the majority.

thats why my cartridges are aftermarket and not by “jews and arabs working in harmony” as sodastream on their product packaging suggests.

Ugh. Welp I already own two bottles (BB&B clearance), know where I can refill them instead of exchanging?

I’ve read about ballers who pop the top and drop the appropriate weight of dry ice in. There are tutorials out there but it’s scarier than I’m willing to take on.
Don’t look at me though, I use Drinkmate.

Same. They even give you a return label to send them the empties for a 22% discount on refills

they wont be refilled, but perhaps there are stores with no name branded co2 cartridges?
wildbus8979@sh.itjust.works 4 weeks ago
There are offbrands like Indigo, but they can be refilled as well. Stores won’t do it, but you can buy a 5~10lbs tank from a beer supply store and fittings and adapters from eBay/Ali.

I only use no2 cartridges
voracitude@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
You need a special adapter to refill them. Some madlads reverse-engineered one: www.sodamod.com
It’s solid brass, very durable, and our CO2 refills are $5 at the local homebrew shop.

Welding supply might go it. Call and ask

Provided you want to consider welding supplies to be food grade.
