My personal favorite is being banned from “unpopular opinion” for having an unpopular opinion.

Women picking the bear is sexist
almar_quigley@lemmy.world 5 months ago
That’s because it’s not an unpopular opinion. It’s you completely missing the point of the whole bear in the woods thing.

Oh man, here we go again
neoman4426@fedia.io 5 months ago
I mean, it's literally word for word an adaptation of a common racist question with one word dropped. "Would you rather run into a bear(or wolf, or whatever dangerous animal) or a black man" has been around with the racists for a long time.
bobburger@fedia.io 5 months ago
I think the argument is interesting.
Absolutely no one would support this if the question was instead "If you're alone in the woods would you rather come across a bear or a black/Mexican/Arab/whatever person". However, since right now it's socially popular to group men into a monolithic group and demonize them the man vs bear question and is a very funny and popular meme.
You can understand the point of the meme and still understand that it denigrates half the poplulation and creates toxic discord towards people who are perfectly good human beings.

Women choosing to pick one thing over another is not sexist. Saying that it is because they choose not to pick men, is sexist. You are trying to tell women what to choose and that is just wrong and actually sexist. Go take your view to the incels, I’m sure your popular there.

So you’re saying my opinion is…unpopular?
gregorum@lemm.ee 5 months ago

How is it sexist, that is, discriminatory based on sex?

Defederate from Lemmy.ml
abbadon420@lemm.ee 5 months ago
The problem with that is that it is kindof te default instance with many “default communities”. That’s because (allegedly) the devs of lemmy are on lemmy.ml and it used to be a default on join-lemmy.org
Metz@lemmy.world 5 months ago
dessalines and Nutomic are the lemmy main developers and founders and admins of lemmy.ml There is no “allegedly” about it, it is known.
possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 5 months ago
That’s why we would all need to do it
