What if they’re accountable and also can’t make any decisions. That’d be funny.

The last Jesus? There were several? And the last one was rich?

Osiris (Egyptian) was killed and brought back to life. Dionysus, Adonis and Tammuz/Dumuzi are also on the list. Horus and Mithras seem to make equally likely candidates.

Seems like a lot of religious people actually think God forbids it

I’m sure this is what you’re referring to, but in case anyone doesn’t know, what IMB was up to during World War 2 is an interesting read.

Guillotines held many to account.
“Never” is completely wrong.

That was mostly nobles holding royals and other nobles to account, though. And often not with very noble reasons.
We’re gonna need a do-over where it’s the workers holding the obscenely rich and their corrupt enablers accountable.

To correct that again: about 50% of the people killed by the Terror in Paris were clerics, nobles or rich people. The rest were commoners who somehow ran afoul of the Committee of Public Safety. When you allow a judiciary to presume guilt, that’s kinda what happens.
The Committee was the most trigger happy clique that ruled revolutionary France and also the last clique that had any remnants of political ideals beyond “me wan power”. They ordered the razing of Lyon and the use of the infernal columns in the Vendée.
