apex32@lemmy.world 1 month agoNo. The Good Doctor is about an autistic doctor. He is incredibly knowledgeable, but has issues talking with patients and working with others.

Isn’t that just House?
TheFlopster@lemmy.world 1 month ago
House isn’t autistic. He’s brilliant, but in constant pain and taking it out on anyone and everyone around him.

You mean to say that autism ISN’T the same thing as narcissism compounded by drug addiction and being brilliant enough to be surrounded by enablers?! 🤯

People can have comorbidities. I think House has chronic pain, autism, and NPD.

But one is for sure, he doesn’t have lupus.

Also, isn’t he 14 years old or thereabouts?
chuckleslord@lemmy.world 1 month ago
No, he’s an adult who went to medical school at the usual time.
There are frequent flashbacks to his traumatic as fuck childhood, but he’s an adult doctor.

Ah ok, must have confused it with another show I saw a trailer of, then 🤷🏻

You re thinking of Doogie Howser, M.D. perhaps?

In your defense, Freddie Highmore looked very young in the first season. Made especially egregious cause he played a young autistic man who didn’t know how to mask. It made him read as much younger than he is.

Almost the same plot as Extraordinary attorney Woo.

Yes, it’s based on another Korean show (called Good Doctor). It was actor Daniel Dae Kim who helped bring the show to America. He is also the actor Freddie Highmore played opposite in the now infamous “I am a surgeon” scene.
