before watching marley and me: “hey this looks like a good wholesome funny dog movie, let’s watch it”
after: “FUCK THIS MOVIE AND EVERYONE INVOLVED IN IT”

Its good but also so sad
tomi000@lemmy.world 2 days ago
Why? Because it makes you sad? Isnt evoking strong emotions a quality of a good movie?
Z745812939054@lemmy.zip 2 days ago
that’s true, i guess it should be called a good movie. but still fuck that movie. there’s enough depressing shit going on in real life, i watch movies to escape, not feel even worse
PhoenixDog@lemmy.world 2 days ago
There are certain movies that you watch once and you never watch again.
That is one of them. I refuse to ever watch the movie again.
Just like I will never watch the Jurassic Bark episode of Futurama ever again.

I had to read the book during summer vacation, I was in shambles thinking about it all the time for the rest of the summer

I had the exact same reaction after reading Where the Red Ferns Grow, I read that right after Of Mice and Men. No wonder I like Slavic media I’m just as depressive as that lot.
MrChewy@lemmy.world 2 days ago
As a slav myself, you basically already fullfill the requirements of being one, in case you want that is, it’s optional of course
vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 2 days ago
Nah, I’ll stick with kinship. The vaguely depressive Redneck field is more than enough already, don’t want to accidentally find out it’s a stacking effect.
MrChewy@lemmy.world 2 days ago
That’s valid, it’s a choice I would make as well :) (it is btw)

I just read the plot and, wow……
Stop the movie before they go back north and I think I’d be ok.
Z745812939054@lemmy.zip 3 days ago
dude, reading the plot doesn’t convey the depression this movie gives rise to.
Stop the movie before they go back north and I think I’d be ok.
no. “stop the movie before” nothing.
don’t start the movie

Noted.

I had to put my dog to sleep shortly before watching this movie. I cried my eyes out.

Well this reminded me of some trauma I forgot I had buried
zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 days ago
This reminds me of when my Dad had me watch Old Yeller with him. We literally had a dog named Yeller that looked nearly identical and was the dad of my puppy. Needless to say I was a very traumatized 4 year old after watching it.
