Your comments have shown me that it’s a lot more of a nuanced topic than I think presents itself on surface evaluation. I generally have always viewed myself as average to below average. I’ve always struggled in formal structured education so my barometer was always, I’m a B/C level of intelligence. With that said, I have always been successful professionally with technology and in tinkering, hobbies, repairing already engineered or developed solutions/products. Originating stuff has pretty much always felt out of reach for me however, these folks that create the things that I can get working are inspiring but very humbling.
I remember when I used to think questions like “are you your, body, your brain, or both” were silly but the more I asked myself questions, provided answers, and challenged myself it got me to a place where a felt a confused ignorance.
I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and viewpoints.

Look into what more?! You have water, you want ice water x + water = ice water
This is both really sad and really funny to me at the same time.

Ok, so I know I’m not smart but that feels like it has to be made up, they seriously didn’t understand that equation?!

I don’t know about all that, I’m pretty dumb and I’m here. I run my own home lab, frigate, HAOS, do a lot of cooking and am a tech lead for a pretty diverse range of SMEs, so I feel like I’m competent but I don’t think I’m very smart. I can do things and figure stuff out but as an example just yesterday I was watching a video about this bitluni guy making a GPU and the things he just knows while explaining what he’s doing, like he’s smart, I could never do something like that.

I can go to my Kroger and buy them right now though

This narrative has always confused me because they sit on the shelf at my Kroger

They are playing statistics, most people that think they are immune to ads are full of shit and even if they somehow defy common human behavior it isn’t really relevant to an advertising effort that doesn’t care about the minority.

I wasn’t sure what the deal was until I saw this and was inclined to say no but now I’m sold, I don’t even want the money.

I used to watch a lot of football. It would consume so much of my time. I’m not sure if it’s getting older, having kids, manufactured drama, folks tying their identity to something they have no control over, or the ‘kneeling’ bullshit but it was kind of eye opening when a buddy of mine called me today to ask who I was rooting for and I genuinely had no idea what he was talking about. I don’t think he believed my when I told him I didn’t know what he was talking about. I haven’t seen a single game all year and I don’t think I’ve missed anything. Happy that folks find enjoyment in it but I just don’t think it’s my bag anymore.
- Comment on Did you have one? 1 month ago:
I had one for nearly a decade up until three years ago when I got a job working from home.
- Comment on Man posts his incorrect opinion online 1 month ago:
I work from home and only really leave the house to go to the grocery store once every week or two. I wear shoes probably about fifty percent of the time, my feet will start to hurt if I don’t. I have two pairs of sneakers that are over five years old and a pair of boots that are almost twenty years old that I rotate. I think I must just live a lot different lifestyle than most folks.
- Comment on Is history about to repeat itself? 1 month ago:
That and municipalities that don’t deal with the shit regularly don’t have annual budgetary expenses carved out to prepare to keep the roads manageable for the once or twice a decade event. I’ve always lived in places where heavy fall and freezing temperatures are expected and yeah, everything is structured around that reality and everyone has more experience with it. I don’t judge a fish for its inability to fly, I’ve always kind of rolled my eyes at people that try to act and mighty because them and their local municipalities are better prepared to deal with recurrent weather patterns than folks that only have to deal with it in rare circumstances.

It gives me diarrhea but I’ve also found that any other fat food place does. I almost exclusively eat food I’ve made at home so I just assume their must be something different with the food at fast food restaurants in general.

I went there recently after many years and enjoyed the eggs over easy and the hash browns, I did use Tabasco. I guess I don’t know what soda they had because I just got a decaf coffee. I was expecting a shit meal and ended up tipping quite a bit because the cost, food, and service were all way better than I expected.

I’m open to them having social welfare after being stripped of their assets. I think I just expect that our prisons should provide its inmates with a humane standard of living of which they would of course have access to from their cell.

Thank you, I’ll need to look into it, it was obvious they were synced because they got adjusted for daylight savings from somewhere and they all slowly changed time over the course of an hour if I recall correctly, it always fascinated me.

My high school was small (graduating class under 50; five small towns combined), and in the 90s, ours were synchronized, just realized I always wondered what they used.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, I only ever played the sims 1 base game. I might have to go sailing tonight and give it a shot.
- Comment on bingo 5 months ago:
I’m so far removed from the sims, I only have the first one. So if you bomb everything does it get rebuilt over time? Is the game worth getting into a recent version? I’ve stayed away because it sounded like they started charging for a bunch of crap after buying the game but I could also use a time sink kind of game.
