Honestly Lemmy gets mentally draining, constant political drama that is guaranteed to lean left, barely any non-partisan or neutral discussions happen here and god forbid anyone say anything that can be seen as conservative because a barrage of insults are certain to come your way.
Comment on My friend got this when she tried to view a Reddit post about a dental issue that got marked as NSFW

something tells me you whining about not having enough conservative propaganda on a site, that wants nothing to do with it, go back to reddit.
ohshit604@sh.itjust.works 3 weeks ago
My “whining” is because people like /u/dickalan@lemmy.world. This is what makes Lemmy mentally draining, they’re hellbent on their political ideology and if you don’t conform you get ousted.

I hear you.
I’d never really encountered the nutty parts of progressive politics until coming to Lemmy. Often times you don’t need to say something conservative, but merely say something that challenges a poorly conceived thought bubble and you get piled on.
There’s a really strong sense of idealism here. A lot of users deal in absolutes and don’t seem able to engage with the nuance of life.

Yeah, I just want beast mode on his ass and will probably get that comment removed. I just posted above you, but I don’t care anymore.

Lemmy sucks it just sucks different, its the photo negative of truth social and anyone who thinks that this place isnt just a different echo chamber is deluded.
dickalan@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
Bro, these are real people with real opinions and you’re just shitting on all of that like it’s nothing, and the truth social comparison, jump up your own ass

I had to make an account that had no news and tried to limit anything that could regularly get too political for mental health

I have a good word filter list that seems to do the trick. Apart from when the titles are “things am I right?” And the description is “this ^”, no word filter will work on that. Wish there was a politics tag.

No matter what happens, I always expect Lemmy to have the worse possible take.
I also don’t like that politics seems to spill into every community
SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago
This is the case on reddit too. Politics creeps into everything.

Unfortunately, everything is affected by politics.

It’s weird that you complain about what you subject yourself to, that’s a sin according to the satanic Bible

There are orders of magnitude difference in the severity.

To be fair it’s about the new UK nanny dictatorship law.
In theory lemmy should do the same and the UK government could sue and block access of any lemmy instance not following their ludicrous laws.

The problem is that the vast majority of content and activity is on the more normie side of the web.
People still use X more than BlueSky or Mastodon, after all.

It’s where the porn is. Is my hypothesis.

We would love to, if not for the accumulated knowledge which can’t be (easily) found elsewhere.
