Glad to hear I could help you out!
I can totally verify that it’s restricted to Canada, had to switch VPN location to access the site. I’ll keep geo-restricting in mind if a sever supposedly won’t let me connect.
I did a little tinkering with my server and it should be globally accessible now with Anubis as the captcha/bot check. Hope it makes accessing it easier.

Man 90% of Invidious instances are dead/not working for me, and of the few that do, they get mad at me for using an agent switcher
While true, Invidious instances were dropping like flies due to the amount of maintenance needed to keep it alive, Invidious admins shouldn’t be flagging you for using a user agent switcher.
I’m not sure of your nationality however, if you’re looking for an invidious instance I host one for folks with Canadian IP’s - inv.halstead.host
Freetube is slightly better, but will also break every few days and either require VPN switching or waiting for a fix from the devs.
If I’m not mistaken Freetube can either use Invidious instances to proxy video playback or directly connect to YouTube servers,
Also, I host a Redlib instance at lib.halstead.host (again geo-restricted to Canadian IP’s)

#Baffling
Nobody here has suggested switching to Invidious,
- Comment on What are the privacy risks of exposing IP adresses? 1 week ago:
so they shouldn’t be a risk like GPS that exposes precise locations?
Yes, they only provide country, province/state and city. As others mentioned if you’re worried about this information get yourself a reliable VPN provider, route all your devices through said VPN provider (ideally through your router).
When picking a VPN provider it is highly recommended to read their Privacy Policy before signing up, ensure they don’t log data.

- Comment on Canon requires an account to transfer images from your camera. Forces you to sign up using Chrome. 1 month ago:
You’ll end up with better quality images this way compared to transferring them to Canon servers where they’ll likely be compressed or altered.

While I enjoyed Gears of War Ultimate Edition they really should’ve remastered 2,3 and Judgement.
I would’ve really liked playing the RAAM DLC again with higher graphics and on PC. Ah the nostalgia.
- Comment on Ubisoft says you "cannot complain" it shut down The Crew because you never actually owned it, and you weren't "deceived" by the lack of an offline version 3 months ago:
And lying isn’t the answer either.
- Comment on 6* months away now. If you're on 10, do you plan to upgrade? Make the jump to Linux? 3 months ago:
drivers are notoriously troublesome on Linux
I dunno man, Debian makes it pretty easy.
1 - Prerequisites)
x64 Kernel headers:
sudo apt install linux-headers-amd64
2 - Debian 12 Installation)
Disable secure boot & add ‘Contrib’ repository to sources list:
sudo deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ bookworm main contrib non-free non-free-firmware
Install Nvidia driver
sudo apt install nvidia-driver firmware-misc-nonfree
Restart system.
Bonus points for optimal performance follow CUDA doc & OptiX doc for Ray-Tracing & utilization of Nvidia cuda cores.
- Comment on How are batteries recycled? 3 months ago:
Use to work In a recycling warehouse for plastics, the amount of batteries that would run through our line then get compressed in a baler or shredded was ridiculous.
I swear we would have monthly fires, our local fire department probably hated us.
- Comment on "You should probably just throw it away" 3 months ago:
EA’s fancy new kernel level anti-cheat is plaguing battlefield games. Also Rockstar broke GTA:O with their Anti-cheat (even though the Anti-cheat they use supports Linux)

Uh oh, clearly somebody didn’t do their due diligence and test that while it was still in staging.
Chances are some manager was pushing for completion before they could catch it.
FYI: 127.0.0.1 = localhost - Essentially no device can access the resources except for the machine/server hosting it.
- Comment on Three years later, the Steam Deck has dominated handheld PC gaming 4 months ago:
Here’s hoping that Linux becomes good enough within a couple years from now.
I jumped head first into Linux without any prior knowledge a year-ish ago, I went and chose what seemed to be a simple distro (Debian) and later found out it’s one of the more difficult distros out there (also most native packages are outdated) and some how made it work day to day.
Basically every game on steam is essentially Linux compatible and a good handful of popular anti-cheats have partnered with Valve to ensure proper compatibility.
Now the problem is, game producers (like Ubisoft & EA) have been pushing this rhetoric that Linux users are all cheaters & hackers and intentionally prevent users from connecting to their servers or even launching the games.
