  Jack Black earned enough respect from me for Tenacious D and everything else he has done, to withstand doing some family movies. If Tenacious D wasn’t as big influence on your life I can understand not seeing it that way though.

      I wish he hadn’t done that. But I can also see how he wouldn’t want to put fans at risk by continuing that tour after Kyle put a MAGA target on their back.

      But like I said, either way he’s earned a pass in my book for the music and comedy that was a huge influence on me.

      Jack is and will remain to be one of my idols. Like I said, his music and comedy meant a lot to me and others in my generation, and helped make us the people we are today. He was a voice of rebellion and joy, not some nazi. I know he is a person with a good heart.

      I’d have to see something pretty damning to change that. A lot more than failing some liberal purity test.I haven’t seen whatever supposed zionist stuff he has expressed, but if it boils down to him saying he supports Israel, i would take that to mean he’s just saying what he thinks he should and doesn’t have an understanding of the reality of the Palestinian genocide, like most people in America.

        How about cancelling a tour and disappointing all the fans who had bought tickets to that tour, because he disagrees with a joke that one of his fellow bandmates made because of its political content? Because he cares more about his own personal brand image and tickets to his latest children’s movie than he does about his and bandmates and his biggest supporters. I think that’s a bit more than “failing some purity test”.

        No, you don’t. You can’t. His detractors can’t claim to know he has an evil heart, either. None of you know him personally, and it’s a kinda gross degree of parasociality to think you do.

        (fwiw, I personally don’t hold what I’ve seen of his pro-Israel comments against him too much. I think he’s wrong, but I’m more inclined to agree with you that he doesn’t have an understanding of it, especially since the comment I saw him make was in the immediate aftermath of the October attacks in 2023. If he’s made pro-Israel comments since about January 2024, that starts becoming inexcusable in my eyes.)
