House clean once a day is achievable (with robovac). The rest of the time itâs just life happening. Better a happy house than a clean, unhappy one. Donât sweat the small stuff (except ants).

vacuumed the floor yesterday. Was vaccuming again 2 hours later cause the kiddo wanted a musli bar. And it was then that it dawned on me: this is why my house looks like a dumpster fire most of the time. Unless Iâm cleaning 24/7 it just aint gonna remain clean. Ah well.

yeah mrs is fairly keen on a robovac. If she cant come up with a Christmas present this year I might float that idea. Give it a week before the cat crowns himself king and rides it around the house though.

Googly eyes are a must as well.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
If that happens, we need pics.

Peeler and I were just comparing Noyes on this very topic. Houses suck, they require more cleaning the more people and pets we put in them!
tombruzzo@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
People made the mistake of giving my kids grated cheese yesterday, they grab a handful and try to put as much into their mouth as they can. Itâs a nightmare of a mess because you canât just vacuum it. Leave it to dry and it could just get stomped into the floor. Sweep too hard and you could just smear it. We really shouldnât just offer them the bag to grab handfuls

Are they old enough to use it as a chopstick training medium?
tombruzzo@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Unfortunately we donât have a dog. It would be very well fed at our place.
Chopsticks would be beyond them at the moment. We still need to get them to use cutlery instead of just their hands
Eagle@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Dog ownership should be a prerequisite for parenthood, if only to do the food clean ups!
TinyBreak@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
thats the worst! yogurt is bad too.
tombruzzo@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Yoghurt dries out fast and then youâre left with that semi solid paste of the cultures. Itâs a real headache if you donât get on it straight away
Taleya@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
This is why we got a roomba
SpinMeAround@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
I want a roomba, but am nervous about the cat having an accident somewhere and it being smeared across the house.
Taleya@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
We never had any issues on that front - we have an old as balls 880 series. It has on occasion found vomitâŚand eaten it. We only found out when wondering why the hell the roomba smelled like that.
Since the poop smearing vids went viral the newer models actually have detectors for that sort of thing. Theyâve been promising their fecal painting days are over since '21

life is a battle against entropy and chaos
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
Theyâre little cyclones. They cause havoc in one room in a short time then move on to another to destroy.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
You let it go at one point, because life is too short for that nonsense. I insisted my kids remain in one place when eating, which helped a bit lol. Iâve said to people before, âPeople live here. Itâs not a fucking display home!â Those people include my in-laws, who in the past were prone to randomly wander in unannounced and do what I call a âpeer and sneer.â The old man especially was a terrible fuss pot. Fuck 'em! As long as the place is not actually a hygiene issue youâre golden.
SituationCake@aussie.zone â¨2⊠â¨months⊠ago
I have no kids and still struggle to keep the place decent. Mess is so easy to make and cleaning is such a chore. Literally every action to exist makes mess. Eat food, use toilets, walk around, wear clothes etc. Not to mention general stuff and storage and actually doing things and living life. I wonder if people with pristine houses just sit and stare into space most of the time, so no mess is created. The way I see it, if regular cleans are getting done and nothing is unhygienic, good enough. My house is lived in. Itâs reality not instagram.
