Kirk@startrek.website 19 hours agoThe nepotism part has always been true, but the category of celebrities “being famous talent” did not exist until Paris Hilton. Socialites and “famous” talent-less people like Florence Foster Jenkins did not have “fans” the way influences do today.

Definitely. We still have that to this day, such as the Kardashians. At least with the Internet some people become famous without those moneyed connections but those are still the exception.
