I don’t disagree with anything you said, but even Citizen Kane is ass compared to TUC so maybe not a good comparison.

I agree but at the same time I am impressed with how much development she and other less-central characters have been able to get in these short seasons.

For years I called “Family”, “Let that be Your Last Battlefield”. I still think it makes more sense.

Here’s the fan film this documentary is about. I tend to enjoy watching many of the fan films that aren’t just 90% weird CGI but this one somehow avoided my radar completely.

Lower Decks translates to the medium of comics well, “Warp Your Own Way” was phenomenal. Looking forward to this!

Some good answers here but if you’re ever in doubt about what is isn’t canon- Memory-Alpha is your friend.

The way I see it, we have enough going on elsewhere in this timeline where I’m willing to settle on this compromise 😅

Seems he was exaggerating for a joke and basically saying that he was too dumb to grasp the political metaphors in Trek.
Crisis averted!

I’m discussing canon and “off-screen” is definitionally not canon. Canonically, it’s hard for me to see Adira’s gender as anything other than an extremely small side detail about the character as it’s only brought up that one single time in passing.

Hm I don’t remember that. Can you point me to a line of dialogue or anything outside of that (again extremely brief) clip I posted to support your argument?

Got it, you’re saying you are happy to see the inclusion of a non-binary character, just upset that it wasn’t communicated a few episodes earlier?

Huh? How is Stamets supposed to know if nobody tells him?
- Comment on It's sad that people completely misunderstand what Star Trek is about. 2 months ago:
OK sure but I’m saying is there anything on screen to support your claim other than this very brief line of dialogue?
- Comment on It's sad that people completely misunderstand what Star Trek is about. 2 months ago:
I mean where is it reflected in canon that Adira was “afraid” to come out, keeping their gender a “secret”, or otherwise had to “work up courage”?
As far as I know, the ONLY time it’s mentioned is the very short line of dialogue in my original comment. I’m struggling to see how it could be considered as any LESS of a “big deal”. Certainly not “yelling from the rooftops”.

Nothing from the show itself? A script or youtube clip?

What does “forced inclusion” mean? What makes it different from regular inclusion?
- Comment on It's sad that people completely misunderstand what Star Trek is about. 2 months ago:
I don’t believe any of this is supported by what we saw on screen. Do you have evidence to support these claims? Maybe just a line of dialogue for each claim?
- Comment on It's sad that people completely misunderstand what Star Trek is about. 2 months ago:
the term “forced inclusion,” which I didn’t raise.
…this you?
I can’t reply qualitatively unless you explain which part confuses you.
The part that confuses me is what “forced inclusion” means and what makes it different from regular inclusion.

Your examples provided made no mention of “forced inclusion” or what makes it different from regular inclusion.

Your two examples didn’t explain what “forced inclusion” means and what makes it different from regular inclusion.
