If it’s horror comedy like The Menu I’d probably like it. Tough category to pull off though

A fresh horror movie to watch that I have never heard of before?
Yes please!

There’s an MMO I have played off and on for almost 2 decades now. I can’t even imagine how many hours I’ve accumulated, especially back when I was a kid with nothing to do but school.
Life is so much busier and way more things demanding my time as a grown-up, and I simply cannot sit in a chair like that for any long stretch of time, I get antsy.
- Comment on Basic courtesy 5 weeks ago:
It’s worse than that. I shoved it up on the curb and left. Like you see at any other store.

One time I didn’t return the cart at Aldi.
I still think about that a decade later.
Because that haunts me I always put the cart back no matter what
For those that don’t know you have to put a quarter in to use a cart and you get it back when you put it away which means there are never stray carts anywhere. People want their money back.

- Comment on "Captain America: Brave New World" has received a B- on CinemaScore, the lowest score for an MCU film. 1 month ago:
I just have never been impressed with Anthony Mackie. He’s always kind of been a mediocre actor which is fine if you’re in a side character role, but he doesn’t stand up to playing the star character. I’m convinced his performance in the second season of Altered Carbon is why it got cancelled, because that first season was some excellent sci-fi and the lead in that season was good and most importantly convincing. Mackie fell flat.
So him suddenly being the new captain America is…lol. What did marvel think was going to happen here. It’s like that second black panther movie where that antivax lady became the star character. Thrust into the lead role and the movie fell apart.
Anything with Mackie in it will suffer the same fate. I hope this proves me wrong though

I think you’re overestimating the influence of doomscrolling, internet and politics in the scope of needing meds to feel baseline, but it definitely plays a part.
Those things, broadly speaking, are somewhat transient unless said politics directly affect your safety or rights to live life, or of those you care about. This applies to a lot of people.
Now I’m retired at age 55. My house is paid off. I have no debt. Live in a beautiful mountain city of 500,000 people. I have chickens in my backyard
now I just fuck around on Lemmy all day, write and publish my fiction, and take trips with my gf.
This is more in line with why many in my cohort are struggling. Your situation is out of reach for most of us now because of a whole lot of economic reasons outside of our control. The singular person being able to side hustle their way to a house with backyard chickens and money for vacations is a win no doubt, but also the exception to the rule.
Lifting our noses off the grindstone and looking at the horizon shows a future without hope of any of this changing. Too much stacked against us.
And for lots of other long term reasons. One off the top of my head, the microplastics accumulating in our bodies. That’s definitely going to be a problem.
My point is that a lot of people would be well served by not worrying so fucking much about the state of politics and the world at large
The cliff notes version is that people are surviving, not living. You are living.
You should enjoy the fruits of your labor, truly. Just be aware your path isn’t one we can follow anymore

Accept that you’re basic and save that cash for something else

Would also be a significant cost savings for Apple since they won’t have to pay for the exorbitant development costs that I’m sure are factored into the price of American based ai.
Still don’t want ai anywhere near phones though. Way too much personal data at risk

You will find that there are lots of folks these days that have trouble coping with the collective stress of a bleak present and future.
Meds just help us feel closer to normal so we can function instead of having a nervous breakdown every other week.
I’m a little envious that you have the resiliency and coping mechanisms outside of meds to deal with it all
- Comment on Anyone ever look at pictures of themselves as a child and feel no connection to them? 1 month ago:
Your sentiments are appreciated and we need more reminders like this out in the world in these dark times.
Yeah, family and loved ones will always have that bias because people are more than their physical appearance. Thoughts, attitudes, habits, feelings, kin. You love someone for all of those reasons and more.
But if I saw a doppelgänger child I’d be lying right to the parents faces to remain cordial.
YMMV. Highly subjective and all

All babies looks ugly to me
Yeah this is in line with how I see babies and kids, so that’s gonna explain some of it. It’s definitely an unwritten rule to say babies are cute.
Though my cousin had a couple kids and the youngest was the exception to the rule when he was like 2-6, just the cutest little thing.
So I don’t know.
- Comment on Anyone ever look at pictures of themselves as a child and feel no connection to them? 1 month ago:
It goes a step beyond for me.
I look at kid pictures of myself and think I was an ugly looking baby. Everyone else thinks I was cute. Which I take to mean everyone is being polite, but I couldn’t care less because I don’t remember being that kid whatsoever.

- Comment on Amazon Artificially Discounting Items $0.01 Below the Free Shipping Limit 1 month ago:
Of course someone made a tool for this
It’s a good idea but it looks really outdated. Searched for 0.01 and the first page is almost entirely dead links or nowhere close to its listed price. Only 2 I found were the Baptist pamphlet for 25 cents and a washer for 36 cents(listed as 34).
So hopefully they update it for guys like OP
- Comment on Amazon Artificially Discounting Items $0.01 Below the Free Shipping Limit 1 month ago:
They’ve been doing this for years.
It’s why I’ve made a ‘save for later’ collection of things I either use on the regular like my favorite soap or face cleanser, or really low cost things ($1 or less) I could make use of like single use eyewash to put in a first aid kit, things like that.
Annoying that I have to play their stupid little game, but this lets me bump it past 35 without it being wasteful

That’s true they’re pretty good now.
The context of my comment that you had no way of knowing is I’ve got a family member who is into photography, like buy themselves a 3k camera from something or other fancy brand level of interest in it. You can tell there’s a difference, even on my newer iPhone.
But yeah it’s pretty darn good for a pocket camera!
- Comment on Do sunrise and sunset objectively look different or do they just feel different? 2 months ago:
Fascinating, thanks for the link.
I’m no photographer but I do whip out the phone while out on a trail somewhere and occasionally go out near sunrise or sunset. I know using a phone will never be real camera quality but it’s fun to try anyway. Article has my gears turning on where those special times could yield interesting results

Yeah it was ChromeOS. It is sort of linux, but google is an advertisement company. You can’t ask them to not collect your data and recently they gave up pretending like they cared about user privacy. Linux is none of that. Complete opposite.
If you compare it to linux side by side, chromeOS is basically the alternate reality evil twin with the goatee
