You’ll find that most people on Lemmy are not super keen on AI, and using an AI summary to back up your points will pretty much universally be met with ridicule.
I personally think it’s dangerous to use AI as a fact checker. It might be great a lot of the time, but you’re basically deciding that you’re fine with the random data and facts that it completely fabricates. To that end, “asking an AI if you’re right” is NOT functionally equivalent to “making sure you’re right.”

This kinda has bro science vibes. We don’t have nearly enough of an understanding of the brain to make statements like this.
- Comment on Niche meme alert 🚨🚨🚨 1 week ago:
It just has the same energy as Roger Ebert’s weird essay about how video games can’t possibly be art. Do you also not think games, movies, tv, plays, dances, etc are not art?
Hopefully you know that “pro wrestling” is an incredibly broad term, and if you’re only thinking about WWE, you’re only getting a piece of the picture. But even beyond that, even if every single CURRENT production of pro wrestling was actually this “kitche” term that you describe, can you maybe see the absurdity in thinking that it’s literally impossible for it to be art going forward? You can’t imagine a compelling narrative that also includes two guys doing over-the-top gymnastics on top of each other?
I guess… Why is it important to broadly dismiss an entire genre of performance as “not art”? Wouldn’t you rather describe your view as “so far what I’ve seen hasn’t been art to me, and I don’t really care to investigate further” and leave it at that?
- Comment on Niche meme alert 🚨🚨🚨 1 week ago:
But you’re basically saying “I’ve never seen a good example of pro wrestling being art, so it must not exist.”
If it’s not your thing, that’s fine, but going out of your way to say “this entire genre is actually lesser than REAL art” is pretty silly. It’s judgemental and also pretty close minded. It’s what I used to do as a teenager.

And also… Most people legitimately don’t want to actually commit violence. Like, lots of people would avoid it even without outside consequences.

- Comment on Indie Video Game ‘Mina the Hollower’ Sells 300,000 Copies in Three Days 5 weeks ago:
Loving the game too! I’ve been telling people Dark Souls plus Links Awakening with some platforming in the too, but it’s a hard game to describe.
I am pretty disappointed in the story. They feel like they kinda halfway committed to having an actual story, but completely forgot to make Mina an actual character. With how hard the game rubs the “twist” in your face, having a talking protagonist just ignore clear signs that something is wrong was… Annoying. I almost thought the game was hinting at me to go find/talk to Thorne but no.

Yeah, I mean… This is just “company releases Linux gaming pc” and just noting that it has a better graphics card than the Steam Machine.
- Comment on Rec Room will be shutting down June 1st, 2026 3 months ago:
I played Red Room a decent amount when it first came out and hadn’t been completely taken over by children, and it was a great time! Apparently I had earned some fancy items, and over the last 8 years I’ve had like 20 people cold-messaging me on various platforms because I used the same username on Rec Room and they wanted the items.

You sound like a great parent, and this should ideally be how every parent teaches their kids. Trust, open discussion, and a welcoming environment for questions.
- Comment on The show I was watching went from "Free" to "Paid" *while I was watching it* 6 months ago:
Absolutely agree. When I got out of college, I was like “I have some money finally, I’ll support the shows and movies I want to watch by actually buying them online outright and streaming everything else legally!”
And then several of the things I “bought” got removed from my library several years later.
Then instead of 2 or 3 streaming platforms, there were suddenly 6.
Then every streaming service kept shuffling around my favorite shows.
And suddenly, the experience of paying for the content I wanted to watch became way too cumbersome.

So skip those reviews and scroll down to the ones that resonate with you.
Any bigger game with meme/stream potential is gonna get a few idiots writing nonsense reviews for the lols , but in guarantee that there are still plenty of very relevant reviews that are useful for deciding if you’ll vibe with a game

It’s even worse in VR games. As much as I love Half Life Alyx, there were certain barriers that are literally just a pile of rubble or a chain link fence.

- Comment on I finished all (current) main quest content for Death Trash 8 months ago:
As a game dev myself, I’ve had to learn to just quietly accept repeat feedback. I’m often already aware of most problems and bugs during some playtests, and I used to say “I know I gotta fix that” to some lower priority bugs, but it’s better to encourage any and all feedback for sure.
- Comment on Soon... 8 months ago:
So are you going to be the general, inspiring and gathering people, and picking targets? Or is this just yet another call for generic violence against any targets so you can feel that others are “doing something.”
I’m not a killer. I’m not interested in killing random conservatives. I’m interested in things that reduce pain and suffering in the world. Murdering people who don’t agree with me is not the way I want to live my life.

It really doesn’t make any claims that you need money to do this. You could do this with a local park or hike.
Money helps broaden your options but isn’t required to chat with people.
- Comment on Former BioWare lead writer reads the runes on EA-Saudi deal and speculates that 'guns and football' are in, 'gay stuff' is out, and the venerable RPG studio may be for the chop 9 months ago:
I mean, it’s EA. They’ve been in full on corporate profit mode forever, and any good games that they’ve put out are in spite of that. I doubt that there are a ton of “artists trying to make art” left at the decision making level of EA.

The story gets better, but it’s paced really weirdly and has some major issues. There’s a lot that’s not explained and the characters often just don’t react to what’s happening. The visuals and music are GORGEOUS though.
- Comment on CrankBoy - the original Game Boy game emulator for the Playdate console (my article) 10 months ago:
The crank folds down into an extremely satisfying magnetic dock that it can sit in while not using it.
Also… These aren’t classic Gameboy games, they’re modern games made specifically for the device. The unique control mechanism is the niche, and it’s surprisingly fun to use.
Sounds like this isn’t your thing though, there are lots of Gameboy emulator powered handhelds if that’s all you’re looking for. If you want extremely unique gameplay by tons of small indie developers (including Lucas Pope of Papers Please), super easy to make games for (I’ve made 2 just for friends), really easy side loading, and something just fun to show people, it’s a super easy sell.
- Comment on CrankBoy - the original Game Boy game emulator for the Playdate console (my article) 10 months ago:
I’ve gotten easily $200 worth of value out of it, and if mine broke I’d buy another one. Sometimes niche things deserve the extra price. It’s more of a problem of the world draining everyone’s disposable income for niche things like these.
- Comment on what are the grievances with the "male loneliness epidemic"? 10 months ago:
Is saying “not everyone is shitty” toxic positivity? I’m not denying the presence of malicious humans, but the first step to becoming a bad person is believing that everyone else is too.
What’s your end goal here - what are you trying to communicate? Just that the world is bad and people should agree with that fact and do nothing?
I don’t really mean to say that you can’t express your feelings on the Internet or that they aren’t valid, but I do just want to kinda poke people who seem to be in this “people are awful” mindset and point out that our psychology and our information ecosystem are all heavily biased towards the negative, but it’s not the complete picture.
- Comment on what are the grievances with the "male loneliness epidemic"? 10 months ago:
Hey look at this guy! He’s met every human that’s ever existed, ignored all the times that humans have been good and caring, and has decided that we’re completely cooked!
But for real, I get that misanthropes are “in” right now, but if you look for the helpers, you will generally find them. Most people in the world are not out to cause pain - actively malicious people are rare. We just focus a shit ton of our attention on them.
- Comment on what are the grievances with the "male loneliness epidemic"? 10 months ago:
The male loneliness is that feeling of having the burden of all your relationships in your shoulders, knowing that if you don’t go after people people won’t ever go after you. And that can be devastating with time.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen it put so succinctly. Maybe this isn’t everything, but it is the root of the feeling for me. I’m constantly reaching out and checking in and it’s more rare for the reverse to happen (though it’s really important to notice when it does, which is something I’m trying to do more now).
- Comment on Hollow Knight: Silksong - Release Date Trailer (September 4) 10 months ago:
Absolutely. Procedural generation is not the same as AI generated. Spelunky’s level generation is great and the different combinations of hand-created rooms with smart rules on how they connect. Unexplored (that’s the name of the game) is a full on multi-level dungeon with puzzles and combat. Proc gen gives these games their life, but designing a good proc gen system is level design unto itself.
- Comment on Hollow Knight: Silksong - Special Announcement Stream (starts in 48 hours) 10 months ago:
Definitely agree with everything you said… Except that Souls games are Metroidvanias. Backtracking is really the only thing that most souls-likes share with Metroidvanias. Unlocking gameplay abilities that also function as environmental keys is the main defining feature of Metroidvanias IMO.
