I did a comparative study on 10 things I hate about you and taming of the shrew for a term in school. In fact, a lot of our Shakespeare was dressed up as comparative studies which did make it interesting.

Your comment is weirdly aggressive and is entirely predicated on the idea that we can’t have any economic system other than the one where the ownership class and the working class are distinct.
The whole point of workers owning the means of production is that they will take on the risk as well as the reward. The belief in that idea conjoins with the belief that it shouldn’t be possible to profit from the labour of others purely because you have money to start with. It’s conjunctive with the belief that the investor class is surplus to requirements.
An argument against this is, how would we maintain productivity if no wealthy people were investing in new businesses or in reviving dying ones? There are entire industries that exist only to feed into this machine. This system, that claims to be only motivated by increasing productivity to increase profits, is only putting the brakes on human advancement and betterment of our quality of life. Advertising is, by many measures, the largest industry in the world. So much talent and effort is exerted on how best to sell people a product they don’t need, an art form mostly now perfected to convince us we can’t live without these things, all in the name of profit.
I’m not well read enough to say that I definitely believe that the world would be better if we enforced worker co-ops. There’s so many other ways things could go wrong. I do think you need to open your mind to the fact that the systems we have in place exist only due to opportunism of those who came before us.

I don’t think the 2% figure includes the steam deck, but I might be wrong

Reach a broader audience on dogshit platforms. At least this is proper censoring and not a piss take off a line through the “bad word”

100%. When one of the cons is no meaningful protection against injury, a helmet should be a huge pro. It absolutely saves lives.

Wow private servers aren’t uncommon, although I do think they violate the TOS as it stands. I imagine people would continue to use those in the event blizzard shuts the official servers down.

If you don’t have it already, maybe you should look at a steam deck in the future. I find it to be really good for times in my life when my time to play is limited, and a better source of unwinding than just mindlessly scrolling Lemmy or Instagram when I have a spare 15.

Oh super true about aiding in prevention. A lot more accessible and fun than a gym.

You might be underestimating the impact of mental illness, or of being incredibly obese, on actually getting anywhere. I agree with you, that pool is really close. But these issues make it feel impossibly far away. It’s stupid, but it is what it is, and that’s why we have therapy. If you can afford it.

Can’t you ask for an ambulance when you call the emergency line? That’s how it is in Australia.

It’s fun to reminisce on what the world was like when you were a kid. This is literally for those same kids, now that they’re adults. You may not hold any nostalgia but surely you can see the appeal of it.
Further, kids who do see it being opened will find it interesting. I was born right on the tail end of dial up and VHS but I remember thinking mums records and cassettes were, like, the coolest.

Isn’t the “Netflix original” the extra season they commissioned? I don’t doubt the veracity of the claim but Arrested Development probably isn’t the best example. I guess you could argue it’s a generous use of the word “original” though.

- Comment on What game has a great story and is worth the time investment? 1 year ago:
My personal disclaimer on this is that Borderlands is way more fun with friends, but if you want to pay attention to the story you probably need to be selective about who you play with. I find most of the people I’ve played with don’t really pay attention to the story and I either need to skip everything or force them to wait for me, not ideal for either person.
