Working through some more Pokémon Legends Z-A, with a sprinkling of Cyberpunk 2077 here and there.

It will happen to Steam, too, one day. Not any time soon, but it will happen.
I didn’t start using GOG until I got a slap in the face with reality that I don’t own my games. I was ignorant and complacent back in the day when App Store purchases on Apple’s platform disappeared or I couldn’t download them again. “That sucks. Oh well. Damn.” is what I used to always say to myself over a decade ago. Funny that it took a beloved game - parts of it anyway - to where it finally sunk in how important digital ownership is.
Ubisoft is the company that taught me this valuable lesson. In August 2022, Ubisoft announced they would shut down legacy activation servers for their old single player games - www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/help/gameplay/…/000102396. While multiplayer would disappear and was accepted, the termination of these servers would also mean that my DLC would disappear. I was a day one owner of Splinter Cell: Blacklist on Wii U, and I spent my hard-earned money buying all the content for it back in 2012. Ubisoft was going to take away parts of my video game on a physical disc sitting on my shelf, because if I tried to run the game and install the DLC, the console would make a call to an activation server that no longer existed and preclude me from accessing my paid for content. Now, all those video games sitting on my shelf from multiple console generations suddenly looked less permanent. I always (and still today) buy cartridges and discs where possible because I believe physical copies are superior. Splinter Cell I purchased at least three times because I loved that game - on Wii U, on Uplay, and then on Steam. In 2022, Ubisoft shut down those activation servers and they took my purchases away from me forever. Now, I can only play parts of the game that I paid for. And Ubisoft doesn’t get my money any more (although they haven’t been for a long time since they keep release middling games).
Since that day, I learned a valuable lesson and have since directed most of my game purchases to GOG, where my GOG library has significantly skyrocketed past my Steam library.
P.S. - To this day, I still email Supergiant annually to beg them to release Hades on GOG, and show them the growing interest for their game in GOG’s Dreamlist: www.gog.com/dreamlist/game/hades-2020

I own ~670 games on GOG and lease 292 on Steam.
I’ve played maybe five of my GOG games to completion. I’m a gamer, dammit!

Thanks. Finished doing research and reading more into this. As I understand it, CD Projekt Red (developer) promised no crunch time to employees, and then implemented it anyway for a period right before launch. Then did some mass layoffs after Cyberpunk launched while they struggled to right the ship and get the game in a stable state.
Never knew about this history which is sad, but I only grabbed the game since it was on sale a few weeks ago.
I do see some good happening there now. CD Projekt Red committed to no crunch time during the development of Phantom Liberty and offered it only as voluntary for employees, which was true and they met that commitment. They also stabilised the game. And finally the employees successfully unionised after the 2023 layoffs.
Small light at the end of the tunnel, but shameful practices with crunch time and abusing employees. No way in hell would I ever work 100 hours in a week for my job, severely and recklessly sacrificing my health and safety, even if it is “my dream job”. Companies need to delay their games by a few weeks rather than crunch their employees.

Control is a very fun game, and Jesse was an intriguing character with ann unusual backstory. Enjoyed my time with it. I’m optimistic for Control 2 and hope we’ll get more lore! And of course, something that hits as hard as the Ash tray maze!

Commenting to say I feel this also. Underrated cult classic game. Jade is one of my all time favorites, and Beyond Good & Evil is a unique game made by Ubisoft back when they took risks, innovated, and created wonderful games.
Zero interest in the sequel if it ever does release. Ubisoft is a shadow of what they once were, ever since their gradual downfall arguably starting around ~2013. Every few years though, I come back to this game and replay it. It left a profound impact on me and probably a million other gamers that played it.

She’s an absolute badass. I cheered her on, suffered with her, and cried when I finished the game. I felt every emotion she had during the game, because I felt like I was on the journey with her by her side while she faced her trials. Beautiful and unforgettable experience.

Some of my favorites have already been mentioned.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice by Ninja Theory Image
This lady is a standout from recent games I played in the past several years. Senua is an incredible character, complex, driven, and felt very human. I and probably a million other gamers connected with her deeply. Won’t say any more to avoid spoilers, but she was in one of the greatest games I ever played. Her actress, Melina Juergens, was perfect for the role in many ways (which I won’t say why here to avoid spoilers for those who haven’t played this game). Haven’t played the sequel yet, but I remember Melina won an award at the recent Game Awards for her performance in Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.

Wow thanks! Didn’t know that. I remember reading about it when it first came out and gamers didn’t have much compatibility and could only get standard vibration with Steam input, probably around when the console first came out. I now see there’s full support, and while most devs can use Steam input, there’s a new DSX version for PS5 that claims to support adaptive trigger haptics on Windows. I game on my PC with KBM and an Xbox Series controller though. I don’t know how well PS5 haptics will work on my Linux PC though.

Astro Bot. I’d argue it is a system seller. It’s as wonderful as Mario Odyssey was for the Switch 1, one of the greatest platforming adventure fames I’ve ever played, has a breathtaking soundtrack, gorgeous visuals and art style, incredible dynamic controls especially with the PS5 haptics, and a top 10 game for me. I had so much fun playing both Astro Bot (paid) and Astro Bot’s Play Room (free game). This absolutely deserved game of the year, and I’m happy it won. Asobo (developer) showed their full passion and love for gaming in this gem, and to play it is well worth the price of a PS5 in my opinion.
I hope it’ll come to PC one day so that others can experience it. PC won’t have the tantalising PS5 haptics that immerse you into the game, but regardless, it’s a magnificent game that I want everyone to experience. I can’t praise Astro Bot enough, it’s such a gem.

In American English, the article “an” is used for a vowel sound to separate the words so they don’t blend together when speaking.
Normally, “a” always precedents a consonant, while “an” precedes a vowel. But “an” also precedes vowel sounds - I.e., the sound of the letter of the beginning of a word.
An apple A banana An hour
Hour starts with a consonant, but is pronounced with a vowel sound at the beginning. Thus, it is not “a hour” and rather “an hour”.
In the case of the example from the meme, id argue that either article works:
- A “I’m…” - Typically when speaking, a person has a brief pause before they begin the quote. Since that pause would be enough to distinctly indicate two separate words, this sounds fine when being verbally spoken.
- An “I’m…” - Looks great in text and would be the correct way to list it grammatically. However when speaking this aloud, since the person would have a brief pause when saying “an” and then the quote, it probably wouldn’t sound as great to some others.
My take - I like “an ‘I’m…’” best. Both in text and verbal form. Others may disagree as far as verbally said; however, grammatically in written form this is how it should be.
